jtbmoore
I just got my avic installed and the nav arrow is side ways as I drive. I have tried the compass and it is still off. If I change the view to street view it shows side ways as well. Anyone seen this.
jtbmoore
FYI, I did the motion hack. I don't know if this matters.
HiFiSi
Is this a new unit or a used unit? Also, check your satellite signal and see how strong it is.
jtbmoore
new, and its strong
Phlame217
are you sure you pressed the red/white compass while on map view?
jtbmoore
are you sure you pressed the red/white compass while on map view? Yeah, it changes but the arrow is still pointing the wrong way.
HiFiSi
How much have you driven it since you installed it? Sometimes it takes a few days worth of driving for the nav to figure out where it is and get accustomed to the car.
jtbmoore
Not much, I will monitor over the next week.
bird_dog0347
mine did the same thing... is you VSS wire hooked up? If not, it will be sideways like that.
jtbmoore
mine did the same thing... is you VSS wire hooked up? If not, it will be sideways like that. I assume the vss wire is hooked up. Isn't that part of the motion hack? I am drawing a blank on the VSS wire for some reason.
Phlame217
the speed sense wire, i believe its the pink one.
HiFiSi
No, the VSS wire doesn't have anything to do with the bypass.
jtbmoore
What do you connect the vss wire to. Maybe I missed this one.
HiFiSi
You connect it to your vehicle's speed sensor wire. To check if it's hooked up, go to the 3D calibration screen in the nav settings menu and if you drive the car, the number next to speed signal will go up with your speed. Or another method, go to the nav map, hit the map button again, and select vehicle dynamics. A screen with some dials will pop up, the center one being a speedometer. It will show your speed if the VSS wire is hooked up. If the wire isn't hooked up, it will not register your speed and stay at zero. You might want to try both methods, as I can't quite remember if the speedometer gauge also uses the GPS signal to get the speed reading.
bird_dog0347
If you find that it is not working after you perform those tests, take it back to the place you got it installed and make them finish the job.
