dukeaw
i have an audi a4 and i got an f700bt professionally installed. since they installed it I hear white noise coming from my speakers constantly. Is there a way I can fix this or should i bring it back to them. I really dont want to go back to this place because I didnt have a good experience and I dont want to pay another place to do it. Second question: Is the hack to make it work without the parking break easy to do? could I do it in like 20 minutes with no experience what so ever?
CatchMeIfYouCan631
no clue about the white noise but.. you can do the bypass in 5 minutes with no experience. its relocating one wire and grounding 2. you'll spend more time getting the unit out http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15663 jus follow the instructions in the first post and you'll be fine
dukeaw
ok, how do I get the unit out? I took off the faceplate by prying it off w/ a screw driver and there was a black goopy stuff that they put on during the install. what do I do beyond that?
CatchMeIfYouCan631
every car is different man ive never even sat in an audi. you can search audi forums to see if theres a step by step or maybe an A4 owner on the forum will chime in, but i have no idea how it comes off
Julius
If they used a Black goo to attach the trim or face place then it sounds like they broke something or didn't attach it properly.
JLeach12
if you are geting a noise through your speakers when you take it apart let us know whether its hooked up through hi-level speaker leads or low-level rca's. also let us know whether you have the bose symphony system or base system. also whether the amps are bypassed or integrated that can help us give you a clue how to go about fixing the sound. Are you sure you didn't pry off the front of the AVIC itself!... -Eric
HiFiSi
Yeah... "black goopy stuff" should never be part of any step in installing a head unit...
