paradroid
In the DATA directory is a file named VCInfo.dat can someone with a US unit and working voice control please open this in notepad and see what the text you get says ? Mine says LPEW1-1-C This contains EW , the indication we're dealing with an european unit I think
BorisM
I meant VBT -- it has IA.EXE, so if you have that you might actually have the voice control software... VBCInfo.DAT for US-spec А-90 has: LPUC1-1-C Other interesting notes -- Bluetooth is MiTAC/Mio.
marmski
wow, excellent progression guys... fingers crossed we can get something Pioneer should have never taken away from the great 'United States of Europe'!!! Edited to say: Really appriciate the efforts as well, top work.
BorisM
Out of curiosity -- what does the Euro-spec А-series do when you press the joystick?
marmski
It just makes a 'Denied' kinda beep... sounds like space invaders when you shoot. nothing else happens
Bman69
ohhh well i downloaded all updates from the pioneer website and compared them side by side and thats why i saw those files were missing dunno why its like that its just what i noticed so sorry i was wrong there my bad
BorisM
Aha... Interesting... So at least the system recognizers that you've pressed the button. US-spec AVIC has a bunch of speech or voice files tagged US, so it _might_ be a software solutions...
paradroid
when I press the multifunction button whilst in FM mode it does a seek to the next radiostation . In all other apps it beeps
stvngo
VBCInfo.DAT for US-spec А-90 has: LPUC1-1-C The UC here denotes US+Canada while Europe is identified with an EW (not EU!). So LPEW1-1-C means Europe. The thing is, I think location ID is also hardwired into the unit. I discovered this while trying to open WinCE and had to change a setting in the MapDBInfo.txt file. You may know this already, but if not... now you do
marmski
So i wonder if the unit would work if we added these voice files from the US? Must be some DLL's for it as well in there i guess? The thing that concerns me / makes me wonder if it perhaps isnt possible is the fact that no-one has managed to boot a US model into EU mode yet by the sounds of it... so im assuming their must be some sort of hardware (or a very hidden software file in Windows CE) that is halting this. From the limited time i have spent on this forum (only had my unit on order for under a week and installed last sat) its fairly clear that we have some very talented programmers/hackers... so if you guys cant do it, then its probably not possible! stvngo
no-one has managed to boot a US model into EU mode yet by the sounds of it... s A thought here is that there are completely different map-sets installed on UC and EW units. Could WinCE be using the map-sets to ID location of unit? Does the VoiceBox software require you to have UC map-set to work?
paradroid
I see in the firmware update that there's a winCE bin file So maybe we first need to upgrade the windows core another thing : in europe we pay 999 euro for the F700BT , that's $ 1400 Amazon.com sells it for less than $
stvngo
another thing : in europe we pay 999 euro for the F700BT , that's $ 1400 Amazon.com sells it for less than $700 And in Norway it costs even more....
paradroid
I think it must be possible to just back up a EU unit and restore it in a US unit . It's only a windows program That way we can sell our expensive EU units and get some cheap US ones
stvngo
Anybody looked at this variable in the VoiceBox.cfg file? ;UseHandsFree = N Or for that matter tried running the Voice Box exe file from WinCE on a European unit?
