are you using the direct link, or are you using an ftp cleint? I had an issue with the direct link (corrupt), but when i re downloaded with Flashfxp, it worked just fine.

i used the direct link

try using a ftp cleint like flashfxp to download the file, that way if the file interupts at any time, it can finish the download. i think they charge for it, but you can just use the evaluation version.

What is the file size? it should be 3,603,349,881 bytes. Did you use winzip to unzip?

i finally downloaded the files and burned my disk. put it in, the upgrade looked like it went fine. then, i tried to do a POI search to see if it was any better.. I cant set my region! the USA map is set at 0, and when i press it, it just sets me back at the main map.

after doing that oh.. about 20 times in frustration and say 'uhh???'.. the D3 starts freakin out at me, and now it would suddenly reboot while driving and give me a black screen while the radio is playin. Once i got the inappropriate disk message and then it FINALLY mapped me to my destination, but now my POI search buttons, etc are all greyed out.

am i fubared??

Again, when i had a partially working upgrade disc, the exact same thing happened on my N3. it turned out my upgrade disc did not burn correctly. Did you try burning with Nero 7, AND verifying the files after it burned? I would'nt get too worried yet, you can always reset the radio and start over with your old map disc (not quite sure how on a d3, but i'm pretty sure it can be done. upgrading to cndv 80 was a lot more difficult than upgrading to cndv 70, atleast for me, but after using about 8 discs, i finally got it to work.
