word77 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Share Posted October 9, 2008 Does anyone know how to fix a Z3 when the screen goes dark? everything such as the touch screen and nav and radio still works but you cant see anything on the screen. If you stare at it long enough you can barely make out things on the screen it is just so dim that you cant see anything. it is the same way in both the day and night mode. The system has been working fine for months and i have not done any mods to it. I was just driving along today and it basically went black. Thanks for any help.... garrettoomey Posted October 9, 2008 Report Share Posted October 9, 2008 Try pressing the 'v' button in the lower left corner. If that's not it, your screen will most likely need to be replaced. I had a guy PM me about getting one of my drives and also said he can replace the touch screen for less than $100. PM me if you want me to pass him your info. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
djmixmac Posted October 9, 2008 Report Share Posted October 9, 2008 One thing to also check, is the flex ribbon cable behind the screen that connects the screen to the unit. Its very fragile and the connection could be loose. If the ribbon cable is ok, than Garrettoomey may be right. Although the manual says the LCD screen has lamp life of 10,000 hours.
