ccolburn2949
I thought that the F-90 said street names when navigating. For example, "turn left ahead on Main Street". Is this not the case? Do I have to turn on a particular option? TIA.
BorisM
You have to select a TTS Voice.
ccolburn2949
Thanks a lot, I'll give that a try.
BorisM
You're welcome. On US units it's Samantha, I believe...
jeffro2k
When I try to change mine to TTS Samantha, it doesn't look like it is on the system, it is asking me to import it from usb or sd card. Where can I find this to import it? Thanks for any help!
BorisM
Hmmm... I recall that original firmware upgrade that Pioneer released would sometimes result in TTS voices disappearing. If you have used downloaded update, get it again from Pioneer and follow instructions they have there to install TTS voices...
ccolburn2949
Follow up question on Samantha. She seems to only say some street names. When we are driving on major streets, she will say turn left ahead on Main Street. But when we are on smaller city streets she just says turn left ahead. The street name is on the screen, but she just doesn't say it. Any ideas?
BorisM
Not quite sure, but I think it also depends on a distance to turn and how tricky it is. Fr me, she often says something like "second turn left" when it is close, and saying the street name would take too long...
ccolburn2949
That makes sense. I've got a Garmin and so I'm used to hearing every street name. Just wanted to make sure that it wasn't another option that I needed to turn on or something. Thanks for your help!
BorisM
You're welcome. I don't think there are any more options (at least in the GUI we god... it could be configurable somewhere else) to control announcements. iGO generally tries to be very smart, and sometimes even succeedes
achi10
Is it me or is Samanth's voice too robotic? My portable Garmin has great voices...this is VERY disappointing to know that the TTS feature, which was one of the MAIN reason I purchased this unit, is almost useless. Do you think we'll get better voices the next upgrade?
cunbo
You have to select a TTS Voice. Can you please give detail instructions to do this? I have an F90BT. I browse thru the setting menu and can not find where to set TTS. Thanks
CamelTowing
Its under language. Select the one with TTS after it. Its Samantha in the US Can you please give detail instructions to do this? I have an F90BT. I browse thru the setting menu and can not find where to set TTS. Yettavr6
Is it me or is Samanth's voice too robotic? My portable Garmin has great voices...this is VERY disappointing to know that the TTS feature, which was one of the MAIN reason I purchased this unit, is almost useless. Do you think we'll get better voices the next upgrade? Yes, it is way too robotic. I'm not sure if it can be fixed with just a new voice or if its a flaw in the iGo application
cunbo
I found it. Thanks! I don't mind the robotic voice as long as I have TTS.
