chammerbeck
Every time I start the car the unit makes a loud thump or bang noise from the back speakers...might even be the subwoofer. Nothing from the front leads me to believe it's the sub.... I have the latest firmware and it's been there from day one. I have a 2005 Lincoln Aviator. Any idea why the unit does this? Can't be good for the speaker(s). Never did this with the stock system. Thanks!
CatchMeIfYouCan631
Are your speakers amped? Did you have to hook up the system remote control wire (blue/white wire) to get sound? If so, try a 1kOhm resistor on that line, that's how i fixed it in my fiance's mustang.

Can you explain a little bit more???? did you just solder it into the wire??? how do you protect it??? I have this same problem and would like to fix it... thanks in advance. CatchMeIfYouCan631
Quick illustration: And yes always solder and tape: I don't know if this is a general fix for all vehicles with this problem, it's just how I fixed it for her particular car.
terron
the whole point is to delay, ever so slightly, the amp from starting up until the AVIC has had its chance to surge.. which is what causes the thump
skicrave
It's a problem with most FOMOCO products, and that fix is common to all of them.
offroaderf150
yes, thats your subwoofer popping. ford amps use 6 volts to turn on and when it gets 12 volts it causes it to pop. the 1k ohm resistor b/t the amp turn on lead on the avic and the amp turn on lead on the harness to the amp fixes this
ProfessorPlum
I have somewhat the opposite problem - my speakers (probably the sub) pops when I turn OFF the engine. It's not a major pop since I've lost so much volume after switching to the F900BT from my factory stereo, but it is a bit bothersome. Are there any other solutions? It's an older Lexus ES300, factory speakers, factory amp bypass.
chammerbeck
I found on a Lincoln Aviator forum something about installing a 2k to 3k resistor. I put in a 2k and bye bye thump! Was going to try 1k as reported earlier but figured somewhere in between should work. Thanks guys!
