bcountry
fixing to install a F900 IN MY 2007 Ford F-150, was wondering if anyone has installed the nav antenna on the dash instead of running it to the outside where you have to run the wire like through the weather stripping, always hated to run wires like that, looks like crap, and if anyone has installed it on the dash have they had any problems with losing reception. Thanks for any advice
bartsitarski
I have mine inside my dash and reception is great
joegr
Mine is inside shooting through the carpet of the back deck and the rear window. It's in the location that the factory nav antenna would be. If factory navigation was optional on your truck, there should be a factory location under the dash. I'd put it there. bcountry
thanks for the reply man, glad to hear others are installing the antenna on the dash and not having a problem with reception, looks like that will be the place i will try it out first, thanks again
hedge
I have an '06 f150. My antenna's installed in the dash on top of the steel dash brace and I'm getting excellent reception. I have seen many recommendations for our truck to install it here.
jmmorgan82
+1 for in the dash under the useless tray. I started out with mine on the roof, ran through the cab using the 3rd brake light. I didn't like the way it looked so I put it under there and didn't experience any signal loss. If you look under there, that metal brace almost looks like it was made for a GPS antenna. This is in a 07 F150.
maddog hoek
+1 '04 under the useless tray on the metal subframe. excellent reception even through the tunnels of Virginia.
watkch01
On the metal subframe? Sounds like youre using the entire vehicle as an antenna. Mines going quite well on the dash. Nowhere else to put it. Convertible = no back deck, and theres no way Id ever run wires over the outside of my car
jmmorgan82
It's just part of the dash bracing. it's about 1.5" wide and perfect for the antenna.
RedPhoenix
Mines sitting on the rear deck - but it seems like I could put it anywhere and be okay.
ebbro
I just stuck mine to the headunit - works fine.
SK360
Mine is in my dash, under my center gauge pod in my 05 GTO... no problems with reception at all.
bcountry
thanks everyone to the great replys, I had no idea you could hide the antenna and still get a signal, awesome thanks
madsonp
Just remember it needs to be placed on something metal, either the metal plate that came with it or a metal part of the car.
