johnyb287
i dont think there's anything wrong with my blutooth so i dont see that being an issue. im going to un solder the harness and start all over with the wiring and maybe i did miss something somewhere. i have no bose. and no onstar. when the unit is powering up when i turn the key the speakers crackle a tiny bit then ..nothing. 1loudls
either one of the speakers is grounding out or the unit is shot
johnyb287
speakers worked fine with the stock unit, so maybe the unit is shot? i went to a local audio shop today and they said they'll go over it on monday and double check my wiring for $20 so im going to have them do that and either way i still have the rga coming to exchange the unit. ddonnik17
yeah your best bet is to just go ahead and exchange the unit. i think its the actual unit. if not, then its def your harness. have them doublecheck the harness and then see whats going on
johnyb287
i fixed it
ddonnik17
well would you mind saying what you did so that others that run into such problem will know what the problem was. let me guess, the harness?
johnyb287
lol ya i was going to i just didnt have time earlier i was too excited. ok so on the gmrc-01 there's a red wire that says 12v power and i looked up online when i was installing it and the info said that went to a 12v switched ignition so i tapped that into the switched power in the factory harness and then hooked up the red acc wire from the unit to that wire. and that was my problem because i remember having sound at one point so i un did that and just soldered the two red wires from the gmrc-01 and the red acc wire together and wouldn't you know that it works perfectly . it was just way more simple than i wanted it to be haha guess when i was doing it the first time i over thought it just a little too much. ddonnik17
oh, so basically you never used a wire harness to connect it to, but instead tapped into the original wire harness? is that what you said?
johnyb287
no i used the wire harness but um idk how to explain. on the gm interface for the dinger there're 4 wires and one of them is red and it wasnt attached to anything the other 3 where connected into the female end of the harness that goes to the factory wiring so i figured with it being red that it had to go to a power source so i tapped it into the switched power on the factory wiring. where it should have just gone to the red acc from the pioneer.
