bulldawg3111
I just got a new N2 and I am trying to do the bypass. However I do not see the silver sticker to peel on the back of the headunit. I have removed the cage and the only thing I see uner the cage is a silver metal plate that can be removed with two screws. I removed this silver metal plate, but the only thing that is under it is a ribbon cord, not the R197 pins. This silver metal plate is at the very front of the head unit under the cage. Could someone please post a picture of the entire head unit and the silver sticker. I saw some of the other pictures of the R197 pins but they are so zoomed in that I cannot tell their location relative to the headunit. Thanks for any help.
PaisanNYC
This is a pic of the N3, but the sticker is in the same spot on both units
bulldawg3111
Can you take a picture that is zoomed out so I can see the relative location on the unit. Or can you try and explain the exact location of the sticker on the unit. Thanks
whtcrxghst
Ummm, Its right above the big white sticker that says PIONEER on the bottom of the head unit

bulldawg3111
Well I guess my unit does not have the sticker or hole for the R197 pins. I have a factory refurbished unit. It is any chance thay may have put a different metal casing around the head unit? Does the N1, N2, and N3 all have this hole for the R197 pins? I wil get a digital cam later and take a picture of the bottom of my unit. This will really be a wrench if I can't bypass the unit.
PaisanNYC
Does the N1, N2, and N3 all have this hole for the R197 pins? Yes. The N3, though, does not have the pins, rather Pioneer made it much easier and simply put a flip switch underneath the sticker
bulldawg3111
Here is a pic of the bottom of my n2. They metal cage has been removed. So where is the silver sticker?
cntrylvr79
Have you tried peeling back either of the 2 stickers in the red squares?
bulldawg3111
No, the R197 pins are not under either of those stickers. There is a hole hidden under the Pioneer sticker on the right but it is not shaped like the hole from previous pictures that I have seen on the forum, and I don't see R197 pins in this hole. Help??????????
madmanfrommars
Off topic, where did you get the reconditioned avic?
robtse
take your index finger and feel the top part of the pioneer sticker on the right. if u feel a opening bigger thena screw then bingo.
Termist
I believe recondition units have N1 cases to prevent from easy-access tampering. Probably have to do what N1 guys do, and disassemble everything to get to the mainboard.
antonio010
My refurbished unit looked just like that. If I recall correctly the sticker was on the other side. It was plain white though, did not have VOID all over it.
