ageedoy
Has anyone done an upgrade from a D1 to F-series? My mom had the D1 professionally installed in her G35 and now the screen is starting to exhibit digitizer drift. Figured It'd be better to upgrade to a F-series than to replace it with another D1. Does anyone know if I can re-use the pre-existing wiring from my D1 and just plug n play a F-Series?
paulc
yes I upgraded from a D1 to a F90BT. No it is not just plug and play, the wire harness is different. It wasn't that difficult to swap out though. I just sat the two harnesses side by side and as I disconnected a wire I hooked it up to the appropriate wire on the new harness. ageedoy
Hmm.. I should be able to handle the harness. What about the sattelite receiver? I know the D1 and D3 used different connectors.
dancemf666
I went from the D3 to the F90 and the main black plug were exactlly the same. But the D1 might be different.
JasonH
Going from a D1 to an F Series will require all new connections. (Harness and GPS Antenna)
stroker87
you can use your GPS Antenna if you remove the plastic housing from the end, bin using mine now for a few weeks no issues, if you hook up a backup camera your not gonna like it the D1/BC2 set up showed much nicer then my f700tb/BC2
vwboy308
I just replaced a d3 with a f700bt in my girlfriends SUV. The harness was plug and play. I did have to pull the VSS wire from the harness & put into the new f series harness. I also did the same thing with taking off the grey fakra & swapping it with the green fakra adatper for the gps.
