VBLUE42
As many of you have probably noticed, the spammers are becoming a serious problem on our forum. Earlier today we even received porn spam that was graphic in nature. At this point I have personally had it with this garbage so I requested admin privileges to help eliminate this crap. I was granted those privileges so I wanted to reach out all of you for your help. I am on this forum many times a day including late at night and will catch most of this stuff almost immediately but I could use your help as well. When one of these post comes through, if you catch it before I do, please hit the ! symbol at the top right of the post next to the QUOTE button. My email server updates every 60 seconds so I will get the alert almost immediately. We will never stop this stuff but I am glad to delete it and ban the poster as soon as I see it. Thank you for your continued support of our community.

VBLUE42
Again folks, I have declared war on these scum and am banning them left and right. Please keep up the reports when you see these post. They will almost always be from a member with only one or two post and the thread will usually contain a link of some sort. Please report them as soon as you see them, thank you.
CaptainInsaneO
You can also tell because of the faint smell of (pork? not pork? is it REALLY pork shoulder?) "something from a square can".
JasonH
Once I'm out of school for Winter Break, I'll have time to update the forum software to include recaptcha (http://recaptcha.net/) it's the most popular/most successful at preventing spam.

dawgbone
We've had problems with PHPBB and spam... Actually two different boards... The PHPBB community doesn't really help out either..Google "PHPBB+spam issues, it's retarded... VBulletin is much better, they even write a conversion tool that exports everything from PHPBB to VBulletin.... but it cost $$$ We've had the most success by doing two different things with PHPBB... -For one, we added a mathematical capcha at registration..... like what's 5+2-3= ? -The second, was that every new member's first post would have to be approved by a moderator... So that user's post would sit in cue(invisible to everyone else), till a mod hit approve... I hate spammers....
