navigator05
just out of curiosity, how could that happen? it seems strange to me. please let us know how this occured, by putting a small piece of platic on it.
ducatiboy
I guess it depends on the stickiness of the plastic (and the rigidity of the plastic). What if it used strong adhesive to stick to the screen and with temperature fluctuation, it changed size more then the screen did. 2 dissimilar materials contracting at different rates due to temperature and stuck together.... one snaps. Just a guess. What could cause that without man-handling the screen or causing physical damage during the application? Not sure.
elansinger
They supply a plastic squeegee that is used to "slide" out air bubble from underneath the plastic film after it is placed. While using the squeegee the screen cracked.
ducatiboy
It wasn't a pioneer screen protector I bet. I guess you can't push that hard on that screen. That really sucks. Most likely you would have to send that back to pioneer. Is it new? Can you make the argument that it was like that in the box?
elansinger
Yeah totally sucks. I really wasn't pushing that hard. Pioneer wants $200 to fix. Not really excited about looking at a big hole in the dash for 3 weeks and crying myself to work.
djmixmac
Sorry to hear about that.....Do you not recommend the screen protectors after this experience?

elansinger
Now hold on to your socks--I just got an email from them. They wanted to know if I would like to ship the unit to them when I get it back from Pioneer so that they can put the screen protector on for me--at no charge of course. I couldn't believe it! Now that is customer service!
