I have 4 SD cards, so the difficult part is keeping them all straight!, especially with changing contents! Okay. Did the backup and the rename of sys.txt (I had two listings, same size and name, one minute apart in time. The first did not work but the second seemed to. On step 3 (Reset + PWR) I t never shows the blue service screen, initially, ust black. (The boot seems okay, with the button lights coming on, until the shutdown. I never get to the key sequence or any further.) After 3-4 tries, I held it while trying the key sequence... finally, the blue screen after entering the key sequence again. Emphasize this step's ENTER is using DOWN on the joystick, NOT pressing it in, like a normal enter. Copying files, now. Seems many of the maps are from 08 and 09. Cool. Thanks sooo much! Seems to work, as I wait for the GPS to update location. Then, on to Diaftia's! Yaay.. Yaaay. Yaaay. I'd pretty much wiped out using this 2nd unit, but now I am near where I wanted to go after starting some weeks ago with frustration at the small amount of info on the F500BT. I encourage newer guys to just keep plugging and reading (takes a fair amount of time) and playing with the unit, getting familiar with the stylus and how CE works, etc. You can get there if I did! akuret Posted February 27, 2012 Report Share Posted February 27, 2012 I have an aviic-f500 bt I followed all the steps correctly. I ran the install and the check worked. I am told to restart the device. I can not shut it off as per usual. I hold the power button for 5sec shuts off. To restart i do the same thing. The device goes to the normal initial screen then it flashes whit e and shuts off...is there something I am doing wrong? Any help would greatly appreciated.
