universalerror
Hi guys, Very new to the site and just wanted some information. I just had a 940BT head unit into a UK car. but it is from the US, is it possible to have the region changed for the dvd and UK maps ? Thanks, any information would be great Craig
Ralpharn
DVD- no. May be if you re-solder resistors on DVD PCB- it will be possible. Map- yes. Read here- it is about Australia - but UK should be similar
universalerror
Thanks, can I just buy the maps from navteq and install them? it seems like a massive ballache to mess around with the firmware etc. and im guessing I should have the latest firmware as the HU is only 3 weeks old. pionara
you can buy the EU maps, but you will need to make a minor change (to cardinfo.cif) to get it to install on your unit, and then another slight mod to apllib.dll to fake the software into thinking it's an EU unit instead of US. That will sort of work, but then you still probably wont get EU tuner steps. I haven't tried it but theoretically, you would need to make some hardware changes (moving resistors around) on the internal boards to really make it a true EU unit. universalerror
Thanks for your help man, So basically, get into test mode, backup then copy the 2 files off for editing and put them back? I guess then I can download the maps and just install them? I know you can get a DAB addon, for the f940, I guess this will also work on the X series and then that the tuner problem solved. It a shame the region cant be hacked, but then theres always flash drives to store movies i guess Craig
pionara
no, once you modify apllib.dll to the desired device type id (see the restoring vr challenge thread), you can install the CNSD-310FM/EU5 update directly using the normal upgrade method. You would then need to re-download and re-edit apllib.dll afterwards again, to set it back to the desired device type you want. Read and discuss on the restore vr challenge thread. Also read the AU maps thread where jock and ralpharn have done this for AU.
universalerror
Hi pionara, Sorry to be a pain, I really appreciate your help on this as im a bit of a n00b and WILL ask some stupid questions until i get it in my head properly. I guess I would use the code for UK f940bt as I currently have a US x940 bt ? I'm running ver 4.00, I have tried several times to get into test mode, by holding down home + pressing <<, >>, <<, >> and also tried the same with the mode button as well as the reverse keys but nothing seems to work I downloaded the CNSD-310FM/EU5 file from this thread "CNSD-310FM EU 2012 update" and also downloaded your VERINFO.DAT from the same thread. I did notice that the CNSD-310FM/EU5 had a map folder, does this download contain EU maps as well as switching the region of the HU to UK/EU? Also do i need to do anything with CARDINFO.cif as its a 940bt model? I presume I just follow these instructions below to perform the update, but I have no clue what code to change to and at what location in the apllib.dll file 01) Download the rar in my first post above. 02) Extract it to a safe place. 03) Open the extracted folders and go into the Update folder 04) Replace the VERINFO.DAT with the one in pionara's second post on this thread. 05) Copy everything you extracted onto a clean 4GB+ SD Card (make sure that the files and folders on the route of the SD card are: FIRMWARE (folder) Update (folder) CARDINFO.cif (file)) 06) Put it in your Car (with the engine running or on a charger etc) 07) The Pioneer should reboot and start the update. 08) Follow the on screen prompts 09) Once completed, it may ask you to update again, if so, select no. 10) Enter Bluetooth settings and update the bluetooth firmware. (This seemed to take longer than i expected but dont worry, it does eventually get there! Thanks for your help man Craig

Sorry, but it's really the case here. Would recommend purchasing F940BT/EU5
universalerror
I understand what your saying, but i have to try, and if i brick the unit, fixing it will be a learning experience. From what I understand, I have the update which I have placed on an SD card and replaced your VERINFO.dat file with the existing one. All I need to do is get the apllib.dll file from the HU, change the identifier to represent an EU model and put it back. Then run the update and after that completes, I should be good to install maps?
