DougB541
Well, my D3 came in today...not sure when I am installing it, but the unit looks good so far. I haven't a clue how to hack this thing yet, but i would love...LOVE if to all of our surprises, they went back to just grounding the parking brake haha. One could wish. heres some pictures. Excuse the quality, i just used my camera phone for these.
aznsmartass24
looking good! but i think the others on this site have said that none of the current hacks work right now on the D3(grounding it and such). Hopefully soon someone will reveal the hack.
oppie1
i dunno.. besides the updated ipod use.. i'm not digging the d3 at all... smaller screen, 1 cd/dvd slot(would be a PIA to switch from music to nav disc and back again).. i'm happy with my d2.. i'd only get rid of it if i got a Z1 or a Z2

Guest THE OP
I don't think I would ever switch out the NAV, except to watch a DVD. If it can support NAV + Aux source such as IPOD or USB (with the additional add on) then I think that would be enough. Alot of people are not happy with the D3 because of the single slot, but I think it will work fine but I'd like to hear from the actual users. You guys out there? All 3 of you. chrisk500
I had an N2 for over a year before selling it to get my D3 (which arrives on the 6th). Switching out the Nav DVD for a movie is no big deal at all. It puts your route in memory mode and stores it all. I guess if you were accustomed to not having done this before it would be a little of a pain, but it's really not a big deal.
aznsmartass24
make sure to not go off track of the route that is loaded into the memory. It will ask you to reinsert the map dvds.
cntrylvr79
make sure to not go off track of the route that is loaded into the memory. It will ask you to reinsert the map dvds. That all depends on how far off track you get.

cntrylvr79
Dunno exactly. One of the n series owners should be able to help since that system runs the same way.
bobmun
page 135 from the owners manual What is the auto downloaded memory area? This is the zone around the route in the map area that is automatically stored in the memory when the route is set. When the route distance is 74.5 mi (120 km) or shorter, a zone with a width of approximately 10.9 mi (17.5 km) around the route is stored. When the route distance is longer than 74.5 mi (120 km), a zone with a width of approximately 6.6 mi (10.6 km) around the route is recorded. This data is transmitted to the memory as you set the route. When a new route is entered, the memorized data is deleted. The memorized area may be deleted in the following circumstances: • Yellow lead of the navigation system or the vehicle battery is disconnected. • The RESET button is pressed. • Navigation software is updated. • System language is changed.
