DP3343
There is another beta build of iOS 8 expected this week. The final GM will be in about a months time. If there were any changes to Carplay during tested that would have to be pushed in a software update to iOS 7. Could that happen in the interim? Sure. Just not sure about the likelihood. I'd be very happy about getting Carplay today, but I just don't see it happening with iOS 7. Based on the beta release notes there have been no significant changes between iOS 7 and 8 in the context of Carplay.
Spankey
That may be, but is any testing even being done as part of a public beta for Carplay at all? Bottom line is no one has it outside of manufacturers. There could be fixes coming to maps, or other apps that are part of Carplay that could negatively affect the launch. There is a very short window between now and the launch of iOS 8. Another few weeks does not seem like that long of time for Apple to hold off.

The majority of iOS's user base won't even touch iOS in the car till years from now anyways. Aftermarket radios are not the norm and people don't upgrade their cars that often. Apple has no reason to hold off carplay for iOS 8 because users won't really see carplay till well into iOS 9 or 10 anyways.

DP3343
carplay is in ios 8 beta 5. when can i get it on my nex unit? Carplay has been in your phone since iOS 7.1. It will work with your head unit the day pioneer releases the updated firmware, and you install that firmware in your head unit.
Spankey
It will work if anyone releases it publicly. It may not ultimately work the way Apple wants it to work. The hold ups could be related to software, trademark issues or agreements with other manufacturers. All we can be pretty site of is that Apple has reasons for holding the release. nolarola
Look for the CarPlay update Tuesday morning, Aug 5th. Just a guess of course, but looking at recent events, it makes sense. Good thing there was no money on the line! I'm predicting two Tuesdays from now but maybe seven.
