I'm surprised they hadn't done that ages ago. Usually we hear of stuff like this prior to the launch of the product. For example we learned recently that apple just filed to have the trademark of the name iTime. No watch has been announced yet. Carplay has been.

The article says there was a problem in that another company already had trademarked the CarPlay name. Maybe this just means that Apple has worked out the problem and can now file for ownership.

According to the article there is a chance that company was just a shell company so apple could make sure the trademarks were secured without revealing to the world that carplay was going to be the real name prior to the announcement.

Explain the recent events that makes sense that carplay will be released Tuesday.

I think he is referring to the tweet from Pioneer UK and the filing of the carplay trademark by apple.

Tuesday is the day Apple usually chooses for launching updated software.

I am attempting to interject a little humor here, nothing more. Too much tension concerning the update.

But, I will give my analysis, none the less.

Apple will not wait for iOS 8 before approving devices for CarPlay. With the new phones coming out along with iOS 8 and the new kits (HealthKit, CloudKit etc) Apple will not want to bring attention to rolling out CarPlay so late. After all, it was announced over 16 months ago.

Apple tends to tidy things up right before a feature goes live. The trademark registration of CarPlay a couple days ago would fall into that category.

Apple releases new products on Tuesdays, most of the time.

There is another beta build of iOS 8 expected this week. The final GM will be in about a months time. If there were any changes to Carplay during tested that would have to be pushed in a software update to iOS 7. Could that happen in the interim? Sure. Just not sure about the likelihood.

I'd be very happy about getting Carplay today, but I just don't see it happening with iOS 7.
