xm display vs siruius

Recommended Posts

Thanks so much,

Another dumb question.

can the xm and sirius share the same attena

no they cannot. I know it will look stupid have 3 antennas (gps/xm/sirius) but thats the price you have to pay

I’m using the factory XM antenna that came on my truck. I mounted the GPS antenna under the dash in the front like most people. So my truck still looks stock from the outside, but I have XM, GPS, OnStar, and HandsFree calling) all with only one visible antenna on the roof.

you are right. you CAN use an XM antenna with a Sirius radio, and vice versa. Just crack open the plastic housing around the end of the antenna connector that goes into the satellite tuner box.

But you will only be able to pick up the satellite signals. You cannot pick up Sirius repeaters with an XM antenna, and cannot pick up XM repeaters with a Sirius antenna.

If you still wanna hear songs that have been played 10,000,000 times, stick with XM. Made the mistake of pressing my source button one too few times the other day and landed on XM instead of Sirius. The first station I caught was still playing that Daniel Powder (sp?) song. Tried another and it was still playing The Fray. I assume that even free radio has given up on playing those "hits."

Which means superior programming. Unless all you got Sirius for was Howard, or hit music that can be heard on free radio too.
