  1. I had one hidden under the dash right by the firewall in my old car for this same reason. The idea is to make the alarm sound louder than it really is to the punk to breaks in so he won't linger. If you want a deterrent so they never get that far, make sure your blinking red light is as visible as possible. Avoid using those blinking blue, or scrolling LED status lights on your alarm bc that just tells tells people you have something worth stealing. The most like stock it looks like, the best.
  2. So here is my Issue. I got larger tires on my Truck not too long ago. I did something (reset distance study i think) to correct the speed on the digital speedometer. Last week, I user a Tuner to correct my factory speedometer to account for the larger wheels. I reset the distance study again, but the z2 seems to still be showing the speed with the factory tires while the actual truck speedometer shows the correct speed. Any ideas? Do I need to reset the unit a different way?
  3. I'd be interested to know if you can tell if any of the newer roads in our area were updated Garret. ...and if it works ok on that Z2 with your Z3 image. If it's worth it for our area, I'll be dropping back by your house again. lol
  4. OK, took out the HDD, put the hard drive cover back on and booted it back up. I didnt see any freezing or anything. I can change between AM and FM1 with this very primitive display. Is that how it was supposed to work? I guess I can assume it could be a hard disk issue now?
  5. They do if you have a newer GM vehicle. The chimes are originally routed through the factory radio somehow. That's why you have to get the extra add on to enable the chimes and onstar to work when replacing it. To me it sounds like a loose wire or something getting grounded when it shouldnt be.
  6. No idea. I have the same XM unit, but I dont subscribe to the NavTraffic service. Mine always says updating.
  7. OK, now its really messed up. I think the hard drive is going bad. Sometimes it locks up on the "Starting up Pioneer Navigation..." screen, sometimes on the copyright screen. Its been 3 days since I've been able to change the radio station, lol.
  8. Lol, yeah. I did that a year ago. It "sorta" worked.
  9. So I have a bypassed Z2 and have for about a year now. After I bypassed the unit, I never really came back to the forums. I've come back now because my display is still locking up when it boots (sometimes). It seems there are lots of different fixes for different problems that are solved by just upgrading the Z2 HDD to a Z3. Is this correct? Does this update also include the latest map updates? The torrent doesn't work and the website is offline for the Z3 image. Any tips?
  10. I have the 07 silverado and mine does the whole updating thing too. I wanted to think it was related to the XM unit downloading information. But I dont remember it doing it all the time. Are you still looking for wire information for your truck? VSS was the only one I had an issue finding. Its in the unit next to the p brake release leaver.
  11. Yeah, I was hoping someone would figure out the navigation disclaimer, but no big deal.
  12. So since messing around with files on the HDD helped out the bypass, has anyone had any luck with figuring out how to get rid of the disclaimer? That would be a bonus to the bypass.
  13. LOL, i think you told me that back in April. Just give it a few weeks. LOL. I can wait, no problem.
  14. Any updates on this? I have a z2 from first shippment. Cant wait to get rid of the pbreak popup and get some nav functionality while im driving.
  15. I know there is an interface for the silverados that keeps this fuction enabled. You just need to check around for one for your car.
