Z1 Bypass - Possible solution

Recommended Posts

Apparently a guy here in town (Phoenix, AZ) claims to know how to bypass the Z1, he said he's done 4 already.

Works at Sounds Good To Me, a local Car Audio place.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to ask before I go in there and waste my time? I am sure if I use the "technical" words when asking him about the bypass will shine some light on if he really does know how.

Sounds Good to ME (480) 968-8543
21 W Broadway Rd, Tempe, AZ

His name is MEMO, if anyone would like to call, and maybe find out if he can do it, and share the "secret"

Thanks again, I LOVE THIS FORUM

Well you can install a pair of TR7's as well. Some people think that hooking in relays in between your VSS and your GPS will work as well. It doesn't. It seems to at first, but the Z1 has internal accelerometers and it will figure it out and there is no way to put a relay in between those. The only way is to flash your lights manually, put in TR7's or my circuit.

If you are going to have him do it, ask him if his bypass is "relays" if it is, his "fix" is only temporary and doesn't really work.

I am going to go with your CIRCUIT RELAY, I don't want to Test anything when your process is proven to work.

I was just throwing it out there, so that if someone who is still "testing" would like to contact him and see if he can really do it.

That's fine, technically my circuit has no relays. Nothing mechanical to click or wear out. All processors and transistors (and caps, avalanch diode, voltage regulators, etc). I haven't really came up with a cool name other than the Ducatiboy Flasher Circuit.

I probably won't call the guy, but if anyone is really curious, feel free. I had thought of hunting down installer shops and people who did the relay (false) fix and try to enlighten them. In the end they are just hurting themselves cause their customers will get pissed at them. A few shops have ordered a few from me, I would not be surprised that they are installing my circuit for $100 or so.

No doubt, my buddy works for Ultimate Electronics, so when I get the piece from you and install it, if it works, I'll definitely hook him up with your info, and I'll spread the word to anyone else who is interested!

Thanks again.

The other possible solution I've heard about is from the place I bought my Z1. I have not been able to prove this theory...nor am I going to try considering I already have the best fix.

Also...I was reading quite intently to see if anyone else mentioned this possible solution and have not come across it...

Nuff said, my dealer told me that he installed his and his method was to not connect the illumination wire and simply ground the parking brake wire. At first, he only told me to simply ground the parking brake wire, but when my installer did that, it didn't work. I got the message about inproper install...Furthermore, the system would work without flashing but after a while it would not be bypassed.

I called him and told him my results and he noted (for the first time) that it was because I didn't leave the illumination wire unconnected...

Like I said...can't prove, won't prove it, don't care... Just taught i'd chime in... Funny thing is, people would go on eBay and buy crap for a whole lot of money...not including shipping, but question Ducati's piece that is proven..

Wouldn't you know...got a call today from my friend with the so called bypass which is to ground only and not connect the illumination light...doesn't work.

Now he is taking about " pac pr7" or something like that.... Told him about my fix but he didn't seem interested. Ducati's bypass rule....

Honestly if I were a dealer/installer, I would be very reluctant to sell/install any bypass circuit for a customer. I could be legally liable if the customer got into an acident while using the unit with features enabled as a result of the bypass. The customer may not sue me, but any third party may sue me if they found out.
