toobroke
I installed a non pioneer back-up camera. The image is reversed on the screen. Does the Pioneer back-up camera also have the image in reverse and can this be changed?

robinm00
the image will always appear reveresed as the camera is pointing backwards. if the image was not reversed when viewing in a forward location things would appear to be on the wrong sides.

Obviously you don't know much about backup cams, because there are backup cams that don't reverse the image

gr33ko
Why would you even want to have the picture normal? If you're using the camera for "backing up" or even just while driving and its not reversed then You will end up making a mistake (if you're relying on it). Not trying to say anyones stupid enough to do it, but why not keep it reversed so you can see EXACTLY what you need to see!
myvekdrifters
Some people don't have the mindset to orient itself. By looking at the screen on a reversed camera, you can actually relate to your surroundings with left or right side of the vehicle while facing forward (thus looking at side mirrors and dvd screen). On the other hand, by turning your head backward towards the rear of the vehicle, like most people should when backing up is the same as the normal camera would be facing, thus, giving that image. But people can't associate the image in their mind with which way things are located at a quick glance whether an object on the screen is on the left or right side of the vehicle. What i'm trying to establish here is people can't tell whether the object is located in conjunction with the vehicle while the head is facing forward with a normal camera. Unless you have that kind of mindset that everything is on the opposite side.
Raiden
As a curiosity. The backup camera would turn on when you put your car in reverse. But when you put it to Drive, you pass the reverse more for a fraction of a second, enough to blink your rear white lights. Does the avic turns to the backup for that fraction of a second or you need to be in reverse for 1-2 seconds before it switch? Also, in the settings, there is a "Polarity" option. Does this reverse the image when changed? Thx!
HYPERLITE
My Pioneer BU Camera does not reverse the image. And yes, when you Pass R on your way to D it flashes on the D3 Screen. Another nice feature (after the hacks) is that you can check the BU Camera while towing something.
