IAC
Hello All, This is my first time posting although i've been reading alot in this fourum. great info. Unfortunetly my D3 got stolen this morning (or night) the point is that when i got in my car this morning it was no longer there. I did activate the password protection on it so now what??? i have a police report from this morning. I know that if they try to use it they are going to need to send it to pioneer if that is the case. What will pioneer do for me???
HiFiSi
There's nothing Pioneer is going to do for you. It's stolen. Maybe your insurance will cover it, maybe not. If the guy who stole it figures out he needs a password, he's just gonna toss it in a dumpster somewhere. That's pretty much all there is to it. Pioneer is not going to help the guy get a stolen radio working.

He is going to sell it and probably already has. Talk to you insurance soon. You can check the pawn shops, surplus electronic shops, flea markets and other things like this. You might be able to buy your unit back but you have to do this quick. I know people who where robed and went to the flea market and bought their stuff back. You might want to check eBay, craiglist and other listings but I doubt it will be there, too much exposure for hot items.

Well i spoke to my insurance agent and he said that they will cover it no problem. but this still leaves that question in my head. lets says that how ever stole my unit is not that smart and takes it to a shop, the unit gets sent to Pioneer (which the unit was reported stolen to) what then. Do you guys think i would get my unit back???
spolkyc
I believe yes, unless you get a new one from your insurance company. Then your insurance company owns it. You might have the choice to buy it back from your insurance company, kind of like a wrecked car. But there is a good chance it is damaged from being ganked out of your car. whtcrxghst
Did you register your unit with Pioneer? If you didn't they have no idea who to contact when they get your serial number in and its locked up
kgain968
I don't have my car currently and the box/books are in storage, but how do you register the unit?

whtcrxghst
Go to their site and click on "Product Registration." You're gonna need the serial number though
