calvin1202
Hello, I'm new to the forum but have been viewing several topics on the forum for quite some time. I've been having a problem trying to upload background pics from my CD-R. I've used Nero 7 (trial version), CDBurnerXP, and windows to burn. I've gone through several disc and all I get is CD-ROM Inserted on the Z2 splash screen. I've created a "Picture" folder, with several sub-folders all with jpeg pics and included 101MB of dummy data within the folder. The overall size of the Picture folder is 117MB from my desktop, single session, mode 1 IAW the manual instructions. Shouldn't this be good enough to load? What am I missing? Any helpfull advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh, great work to Hyper and D/B on the bypass. I bypassed mine last night at work, on my 15 minute break.
dawgbone
if it says it can read the disc....as in....it doesn't say disc unreadable....then it will work.... the MAIN things from the instructions...is to make sure the burn is in Mode 1...and finalizes the disc at the end of the burn....as in...no multi-session..... what does it say when you go to the menu to change the background/splash.... also...are the jpg's at the right resolution? the manual's instructions worked for me.... calvin1202
It seems to hang up on CD-ROM Inserted. I left it there for over 5 minutes to make sure I'm giving it enough time to read the disc. I'm not sure if it's actually reading it or not, but with the overall size of the disc, shouldn't that be enough time for it to start reading? When I went through the menu to change the background, the "import from disc" was subdue and not allow me the option to import from the disc. The burn setting is definitely mode 1, single session with finalization. I'll have to check on the resolutions of the jpegs. Maybe I'll go back and reburn with just 4 or 5 jpegs to see if that will work.
dawgbone
hmmm....you are using a cd-r, and not a +r or rw? maybe download this zip and extract it, then burn it, and see if it works... it's one of my first disc that I made...the other folders are just junk that I stuck in there to fatten the file size.... http://flemdawg.com/Pictures/pictures.zip
calvin1202
OK...I downloaded the zip from dawgbone, extracted the file and burned it using the nero 7 trial version. I used a cd-r, made sure it was on mode 1, no multi-session and finalized. The burn was clean but still, after reading the disc, the splash page reads CD-ROM Inserted, and there it stays. After a few minutes, I removed the disc and installed it in a different navigation head unit I have in my other car. It read the disc and started showing the pics in a slide show presentation. I just cannot figure it out. I admit, I'm not too computer savvy but I manage to do all the other downloads and image burns concerning the bypass and freeze problems. This one is kicking my ass!!! I have a new replacement Z2 that will be installed wednesday, so I am using this one like a test model for all the downloads to see if they actually work with the bypass and stuff. So far...so good with the exception of this background problem. Maybe the new unit will cooperate a little better. Thanks for your help dawgbone.
dawgbone
the Z2 won't do anything with it when you insert it....I'm not even sure if it has any slideshow functionality....but when you stick in the disc...you have to go to the setting menu to change the splash and background.... calvin1202
Well, I had my Z2 replaced this afternoon. Before I took it into the audio shop, I tried, again, to import background pics from my cd-r. Needless to say, it didn't work. After they replaced the Z2, I took the same cd-r and tried to import pics and guess what...it worked!!!! Also, the bypass is still in effect. The unit has a manufacture date of July 2007. Hopfully, they already loaded the patch for the freezing up problem (probably not) but I won't worry about that until the weather gets a little warmer. With the exeption of my steering wheel controls not working, all is well. I'll take it back for them to look at the steering wheel controls this weekend. Thanks dawgbone and sid06 for all your help. zeeker78
I have the exact same problem you described. But i don't really want to change the unit. Is there any other reason why this issue of not enable the import buton would be in place? I hope you guys can let me know, Thanks Zeek
whtcrxghst
Did you put 100mb of crap (not music) on the disk?
zeeker78
Yes I did. I burned the cd three times
dawgbone
Funny, cause now I'm having issues getting the "freeze fix" update(v2.0005/HDDv2.14) to read in mine...same thing...CD-Rom Inserted...but no love F'd up part about it, is that, while I couldn't get the FW update to work...I decided to try the GraceNote update(from 07-01-0010 to 07-01-0020) and it worked flawlessly....even with a CD-RW(GN instructions doesn't matter CD-r or CD-rw) I tried with both....doesn't seem to help....even tried to dump a dummy file in with the update....I've done the update to my original drive with no issues....so I'm guessing that they are maybe doing some kind of checksum on the HDD for the update...where-as maybe the GraceNote update isn't....I dunno.... Seeker78. do you have an upgraded/unlocked HDD? If not...the only other thing I can think of, is the burn speed...Burn at the slowest you can...I burned the GN update at 4x, and it worked... zeeker78
I got it. Thank you for your help. I was using Windows XP to burn the CD. I changed to NERO, did the MODE 1 and No Multisesion, Finalized CD. Everything worked. Thank you again Zeek
rjousuf
To get the steering wheel controls u have to buy a seprate module SWI-JACK or somthing like that will enable the steering wheel controls. I did the same thing on my 2006 f150 with z2, but then i got the remote for z2 that sticks to ur steering wheel or u can put it anywhere and that has much more options then volume up down and change stations. You should look at that as an option. Only cost me $20.
dawgbone
hmmm.....dunno if anyone else would run into this... But like I mentioned...I upgraded HDD and used the Z2 image that BigFloppy had posted...I updated GraceNote, but could not get the 2.14/2.0005 firmware update to work...I had the BT echo problem with BF's image and wanted desperately, to update the firmware....so I just figure that I would repeat the steps that I took to update my stocker HDD...in which I used the hacked files for the bypass... Well go figure....I had to update the system with the bypass iso....then I was able to finally get the Pioneer 2.14/2.0005 update to work....In which I didn't need to do a reset....so far so good... anyhoo a little OT...but just putting it out there...
