Lophat Posted September 22, 2007 Report Share Posted September 22, 2007 Hello all, I am puting a new Avic-Z2 with a GEX-P10XMT in my new 2008 Impala SS optioned with XM and Bose. I have found all modules etc to keep all OEM functionality, such as OnStar and wheel controls and safety/door chimes. But, I have not found any way to use the existing XM antenna. Does anyone know if it is possible to use the existing XM antenna or possibly re-end/hack it to work with the GEX-P10XMT? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated! I know the antenna plug on the pioneer XP piece is a square with a round type deal in the middle. I can not find a picture or any documentation of a GM XM antenna or antenna plug. superjet Posted September 26, 2007 Report Share Posted September 26, 2007 Most GM's are 2 wire set ups, one wire for Satelite, the other for the repeaters. If it is a 2 wire antenna, it will work just fine except for the repeaters (tunnels, downtown areas). Quote Link to post Share on other sites

All you have to do is take off the plastic around the main connector and it will plug right into the aftermarket xm unit. Theres just a little clip on the side you pop that off and then the plastic connector comes right off. Then you are left with just a bare smb connector which will work perfect. installermarc Posted October 30, 2007 Report Share Posted October 30, 2007 Remove the factory yellow connector, and file it from the inside so it can "lock" into the pioneer tuner. If you don't you may have a prblem keeping the antenna cable in the plug. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
shotgun_customs Posted October 30, 2007 Report Share Posted October 30, 2007 You can also shave off the alignment tab on the Pioneer XM tuner's ant input(pink plug, tab is in the shape of a triangle). oachalon Posted October 31, 2007 Report Share Posted October 31, 2007 What I did was take off the yellow plastic connector and then i found an antenna extension cable. It fit snug to both the pioneer xm unit and the factory plug. This way I didnt change anything factory so if i do sell my car one day i can take it back to exactly stock.
