Jason,

Can the beep be turned down or off? I'm talking about the beep every time you touch something on the screen. Did you ever find out how you sound on the other end of a BT phone call?

Thanks!!!

I have not found the option in the settings to turn the chime off for everything. I found it for the nav portion, but that's it. I can't believe how skimpy the settings menu is. Simple and well laid out, yes, but there just seems like there should be more than what is there. Especially compared to the D3.

Yes, the beep can be turned down. It's under Navi Settings -> Sound Settings.

My friend said it sounded like a regular cell phone on a windy day.

So not very good then. This is becoming comical...

Yesterday i just bought the D3. I think its worth it to wait 2 days and pick one of these up...

Does it come with built in GPS? Thats the one thing i dont like about the D3, is that i have to put in a disc every time.

Posted Jun 08, 2008 · 17:59 UTC#182

Does the F have channel preview on XM to allow checking what is on other channels prior to switching? Similar to many of the portables like the SkiFi2/3.

Keep the info coming!

Yes, as posted earlier, there are no disks. Its on flash memory

I'm seconds away from buying a 90BT but from other post I see so many complaints from people about their unit. Jason, have you experienced any of these issues?

I'm starting to think I should look into upgrading to VW's new RNS-510 unit they'll be using in the 2009 models. At least then I can keep my MFI functionality.

Do you guys know what accessories can be used with the F90? Are they the same as the Z-series?

Also...I have an 05 GMC Sierra that already has an existing XM antenna that I would really like to use instead of the XM antenna on the adapter. Can I use my existing XM antenna by using a converter or something?

Thanks in advance to anyone that is willing to answer! I greatly appreciate any responses.

You've got a vehicle that supports Can Bus 2.0, that's DEFINITELY the way to go. And with the new music interface that's being released, you'll have almost identical functionality.

How can Pioneer remove orientation selection on 2D maps? I don't understand this. I use 2D over 3D as I think 1. It looks better and 2. It shows more detail further out.

Why would they do this? It is almost a deal breaker for me.

Posted Jun 14, 2008 · 02:50 UTC#194

Uh, they didn't, 2D is still available.

But I thought during the video tutorial by Jason and Pioneer's manual you can no longer select your orientation as Heading or North one 2D map view....On current navi units you push the Compass button to change the orientation.

the prices that I've seen for the RNS-510 are quite a bit higher than the F series. Plus the 510 doesn't have voice recognition or USB input (not without an adapter)....and I'd like to compare the sound quality...

Rumor has it a retrofit kit is in the works with a target price ~$2,000. Plan is to add the MDI for iPod/USB as well, but will likely use SD most of the time. Voice input is not that big a deal for me and the F-series can't voice-input nav destinations anyway which is what I would want it to do most. Trick will be to find the proper Bluetooth module and not try to jerry-rig that Skoda thingy.

I have a 2005 Porsche Cayenne and was wondering if this could possibly integrate with the existing steering wheel controls I have now?

Posted Jun 17, 2008 · 21:45 UTC#199

Okay, I just read all the threads here (I didn't search elsewhere yet, so sorry if its there) BUT WE all know Pioneer has ISSUES with loop noise and interference on the RCA outputs, its so bad, some have actually used Speaker out to line level convertors to get clean signals to their amps. I actually took the time to solder ground leads to each of the RCA output barrels, and connected the cross connects them to a common ground on the frame of my z1 to help get rid of it, anyone have any comments on this yet?

Thanks in advance.

What's the difference between F90BT and F900BT?

As far as I can tell there are only three:

1. Pre-out are 2v lower on F900BT

2. Price is $300 lower on F900BT

3. Warranty one year on F900BT, two years on F90BT

Both support MSN Traffic!

Am I missing anything?
