Using the 'hide' thing in my last post will eliminate not just the boxes, but the stuff that went in the boxes. That's why it was not ideal.

What follows, however, will eliminate the boxes but (I think!) keep the content - so you get the directional icons and details floating over the map image, without any box backgrounds. This simply eliminates the graphics of the boxes, without eliminating the 'sprites' that hold the boxes, hence the content can still appear.

I have attached two files: navigatemap.ui and 746_32K_OM-blank.bmp

navigatemap.ui goes into data.zip\pioneer_ui\common *and* data.zip\pioneer_ui\common\ui (because I'm still not sure which of those two is the 'real' location)

746_32K_OM-blank.bmp goes into data.zip\pioneer_ui\800_480

With the navigatemap.ui file changed, and the 746_32K_OM-blank.bmp file added, this replaces the bar across the top, and the two rectangles on the left-hand side, with a one-pixel transparent bmp file.

With that change made, there are no blue (or green) boxes on the screen, but when you are navigating, the icons and text should still appear. I tested this a little, I plotted a route and the info did appear, but I didn't actually drive anywhere so I didn't see the info change. I'll test that tomorrow morning.

Also -- I tested the clock colour change and it works fine. The colours are straightforward RGB hex, so any HTML colour chart will do you fine. The first colour is the outline and the second colour is the fill of the text, IIRC.

That's about all the fun for me for tonight. :)

This all looks very good. Ik hope the europe models have the same file structure so we can use this too. Hope there will be a data (zip) file available from you so we can update this all in a quick en simple way. keep up the good work!!

What happens is when there is no route set, the button is invisible. When you have a route set (specifically, when there is a value in the distance-to-next-manoever) the button appears. When you tap it, you go straight to the Delete Route Yes/No confirmation screen.

Cheers!

Very, very cool! Thanks.

An easier DELETE ROUTE function would definitely be cool.

This sounded like a good idea and was pretty easy to implement. Add this line of code in navigate_800_480.ui just below the line that displays the time (it's in the first area near the top of the file).

You need to make some changes for position and the actual graphic.

The x=720 and y=140 will probably not look good, as there are other things in that area usually. I'd suggest x=720 if you want it in the same vertical column as the 3D/2D and compass but y=280 or so to move it down towards the lower right area of the map. You'll have to experiment as to where you want it, exactly.

I've attached the graphic I used below, it's basicaly just one of the ones already provided, but cropped to size. It goes in data.zip\ui_pioneer\800_480. You can of course use anything you like; if you want it to be the same size as what I've used, the size is 72x55 pixels.

Going to be installing the F in my new Audi when i finally get it, was hoping someone could find me a font similar to the font on the cluster so i can use that. Here's what the cluster looks like:

I know it's kinda hard to tell with just numbers but any suggestions appreciated :)

Maybe try these...are those dots making up the letters? If so "LCD DOT" toward the bottom might be close

Sweet, lots of nice fonts on there. I was actually look for the font on the speedo & tach, but i might end up using that LCD DOT one.

Hey Stephanie, any idea on what the files "Startlang_320_240", "Startlang_480_272", and "Startlang_800_480" are? I did alot more fishing around (found some things I'll be posting in a seperate thread) but in those files theres a section where it says "Text-"OK"". It's in the same directory as the navigatemap file.

I think they are leftovers from the iGo software - when you turn it on for the very first time, it needs to know what language you use, and there are three files for three different resolutions. So on a PDA or whatever, you might get the 320 x 240 screen.

There is an awful lot of junk in the data.zip file, stuff that seems to be unused and leftover from prior iterations. Even in the files themselves, seems to be a lot of unused leftover stuff from many previous versions.

Is there something I am missing here? I have an F90BT with update applied. I followed Stephanies instructions to the letter... yet I still keep booting up with the bars. Everything goes exactly as stephanie mentioned... any suggestions?

As far as I know, the EU units use the same software, and should be skinnable just as easily. I'd wager that the data.zip files would be interchangable from a North American unit to a European unit.

From what I can see, virtually everything you can see in the iGo software is managed through the skins. The only exception seeming to be that !#^%$ warning/disclaimer message, that we haven't been able to eliminate yet.

Which post's directions are you following? This thread has seen a lot of progress and evolution going on... somewhere around page 3 or 4 I have provided a link to a data.zip file that has the bars and boxes removed already; that would be a good place to use as a starting point.

Hey Stephanie, is it possible to put MSN Direct on 700's if we can get the data from a 900 or 90?

Hey Steph.....I've been reading ur progress everyday! U are the bomb baby! I wounder If I can use a copy of ur DATA file setup like in this post? Thanks..

It had not occured to me that anyone else might want a copy of my data.zip, but I don't mind sharing at all. Later today, or perhaps tomorrow, I should be "finished" with my current messing around, then I'll post a link to it, so if anyone else wants to have at it, or use it as a starting point, it's available.

The main reason I didn't think anyone else would be interested, is I've almost completely eliminated 3D mode as I prefer the North-Up 2D view exclusively. More accurately, the mode still 'exists' but there is no longer any way to get to it, as I've removed the 3D buttons.

Anyhow, I'll post a photo and a link to the data.zip file when I've finished what I'm working on right now.

Cheers!

"It depends..." :)

I have no idea what MSNDirect is or what it does... if it's implemented entirely in software then you could *probably* take the software off a 900 or 90 and load it onto the 700. You'd really want a full flash dump to make sure you got everything, just in case... like if there are DLLs or EXEs in the APL directory, or if there's stuff burried right into the windows system then you'd need the windows binary as well.

Posted Aug 25, 2008 · 14:48 UTC#117

gotcha...HiFiSi, any way you can attach a copy of your flash disk?

Posted Aug 25, 2008 · 15:22 UTC#118

Thanks Stephanie! I downloaded your zip file and it works perfectly. I went in to edit your zip file to change my clock color and fonts and it wont change anything.... Argghhhh Im just not having luck with the Zip files.

Anyone else having this kind of trouple? Is there different software to use for those of us that dont have a MAC... maybe WINRAR perhaps?

Posted Aug 25, 2008 · 15:27 UTC#119

I'm not using a Mac for this, I'm using Windows to 'explore' the data.zip rather than unzipping then rezipping it. Just double click the zip file, and navigate to the right directory to find the file to edit. I'm using notepad to make the changes, then notepad won't save back into the zip file so I save to the desktop then copy it into the zip file.

When I tried unzipping, making changes on the Mac, then rezipping, the nav unit refused to accept my new zip file, it gave an error and wouldn't start the mapping software.

Posted Aug 25, 2008 · 15:52 UTC#120

Well, good news... I used WINRAR and everything works great! Thanks again Stephanie! Where did you go to change the TOP MENU words on the main page?

Newbies to doing this, read this part! It took me a bit to figure out exactly how to put it all together.

Stephanie, I can't get the clock to go into the very corner of the screen like yours, I tried y=5 but it moved it way down for some reason. What y coordinate do you have yours at? Thanks!

i must be stupid because i have read the entire thread about 3 times for changing the clock colour, adding the cancel button and adding on the km/h reading. And i am still puzzled to where i have to insert those lines to. can someone lead me in the right direction pleas?

Posted Aug 26, 2008 · 01:07 UTC#123

This may have been asked already, but does anybody know if making any changes to the software code will void the warranty on the unit?

Posted Aug 26, 2008 · 01:14 UTC#124

you send it in and tell them you got it like that they have no way of proving that you messed with it. Sure these forums are here but g/l matching up the poster with this unit. If they have no hard evidence they have no right to void warranty. The company may notice its not original but they have to prove you did it b4 they can void it. Thats the way t is in my line of work anyways.

Here the steps:

On your AVIC you have to get into testmode (the Windows screen). Do that by putting the testmode and MitaCap folders on your SD card. Use the stylus and triple-click on any folders. When you are there, hit start, go into Windows Explorer, then "My flash disk", then "iGo", then "APL2". In there, there is a file called simply "DATA" with a generic windows icon. THAT is the key file where most of these changes are being made. Either copy that file to your SD card (open up another Windows Explorer box) and click on your SD card, OR use one of the ones we have posted in the thread.

Take that data file on your PC and explore it, do NOT extract the files. In there, click on ui_pioneer, then 800_480. In that folder you see a bunch of BMP's and SPR files. That's where you drag the killroute.bmp into. Then click on the ui folder and click on "navigatemap_800_480". That's where you change fonts, sizes, add the delete route code, etc.

I'd copy the original "navigatemap_800_480.ui" file to a safe place. When you have made your changes, save it with a ui extension to the desktop. Then drag it where the real navigatemap_800_480 file is and say yes when it asks if you want to replace.

Take the new data.zip, copy to your SD card, get back into testmode on the AVIC. Go to the original DATA file, rename it, then drag the DATA.zip from the SD card into where the old DATA file was.

Boom, the AVIC uses the modded DATA.zip.

To add the lines of code for the delete route button, copy and paste Stephanie's code into navigatemap_800_480.ui right here (the red part being the new code):

;time

map.ISROUTEVALID vValidRoute vDeletableRoute

runif vValidRoute 1 sc_btnARM_Itineary_OnRelease
