Since I just got the unit, I'm unaware. What exactly were the blue boxes before?

Posted Oct 29, 2008 · 20:16 UTC#27

the blue boxes were backgrounds for the gps arrows and road names when giving a route. but they stayed on the screen even when no route was programmed in and it blocked the upper left corner of the map.

If you look through some older threads you'll find early pictures of the map and see what they are.

Here is the proof. Crappy pics, but you get the idea.

Awesome redtruck! That would have been the only thing I would have missed for sure... I will update when I get home! Thanks for the quick response and pics! MUCH appreciated!

If you hack the unit and do mods, I'd suggest waiting on it until we know for sure testmode is still accessible.

Its faster, but still not fast. The BT seems pretty solid, but my BB 8330 seemed fine after the first update.

True CMIYC... what is taking someone so long to test her on out I wonder?

Can you access the keypad after call is connected. I didn't see away to do this in the previous version. Needed to navigate voicemail systems or dial extensions.

Posted Oct 29, 2008 · 20:43 UTC#36

I installed the firmware and bluetooth updates. I was still able to get in testmode after the updates were completed.

what about direction up in 2D mode?

I wouldn't think they would lock it out. I went to a seminar training a few months ago and they said they were well aware of the users on here customizing them and said they were going to implement this (user customization) or like it in a sense into their future av units.

I think it only has a new data.zip and some scripts. I doubt our themes will be affected

Posted Oct 29, 2008 · 21:28 UTC#45

It does include images.res so themes will probably be gone, too...

Can anyone provide the updated bootup times? I have held off picking up a 90BT and had begun considering the Kenwood. If this has improved significantly, I'm going to reconsider it.

I have an AVIC D2 now but would love to add in the Bluetooth for handsfree, but not at the price of a buggy headunit. My D2 works decent enough that I don't really need to upgrade neccesarily.

Any information or advice on this subject will be GREATLY appreciated.

Runs about 30 seconds for me, was about 55 seconds before.

i tried to kill 2 birds with one stone... and put my modded data.zip and image.res on the SD prior to updating.

it didnt work. don't try it. just wait till the update is done, then do it. i suppose it reviews the files for integrity or something. who knows...

haha, hey guys pioneer posted a video response to my f900bt bluetooth review on youtube. That is how I found out about the update!

Funny stuff.

I am cranbers on youtube who posted the review.

regarding the question about boot-up, the video shows ipod audio playing within 38 seconds or so. the video also said FM and XM, etc will start playing within 8 - 12 seconds. Hope that helps.

Here's a link to the video:
