You should have Map Version 2.xxx with Version 3.xxx below that

If you have version 2.xxx you have the version 2 firmware

Had you updated to Version 3 before trying to add the maps?

Try the V2.1 and 2.0 testmodes to boot into the system

As long as you still have the wince bin files it will load into testmode, you just need the testmode that matches your wince

Once you get in

Make a backup

Load the backup into the emulator

Run Ezrider ands see where it goes wrong

You can also try reloading the V3 update. The V3 update will reformat the disk and load everything from from scratch.

ok, i'm reloading v3. any idea what the device should = for f500bt?

I didnt upload v3 seperately to the maps. I thought it was all in one update posted in this thread??? is that not right?

also just tried to use the restart app from the WinCE desktop and it came up with cannot find 'Restart' (or one of its components)... do i have a corrupt v3 update??? cheers

Status quo. Still has that blasted message down the bottom and the version is still 2.

I have downloaded the 2 parts.

Extracted them (using winrar) onto root of sd card, overwriting as part of the second part extraction.

Swithched the device on which went into WinCE desktop

went to mydevice. Copied myflash disk file from the sd card over myflash disk on the avic, overwriting.

Rebooted the device. That's it

have missed something? Have I screwed something up?

The restart app is on the sd card as part of V3 testmode. This wont work with V2

Yes it is the problem. As stated in the instructions this is only for Version 3

You will need to restore a V2 image for the FM500

As you don't have a backup you will need a copy of the files you have replaced for the FM500

IE the 3 files in the APL dir, EZrider and SYS.txt in APL2 and a copy of the 14.1 maps to replace APL2/content folder

Try searching for a backup of the FM500 in the forums or someone may help you out with that.

The V2 update on the Pioneer website will probably have those files in it

Try searching for an EZrider that works on the FM500 for V2 firmware. The Maps are the files in APL2/content and below. Delete these files and put the ones in from my V2 update, thes will work with your firmware. The Ezrider will probably work as well but I have never tested that on the FM500 as I don't have one

I have not had a chance to remove duplicate POI's that are in the Sensis16.1 Map Update.

No natter what I try, I can't go back to v2, does anyone out have v3 avaliable for download for Australia. I spoke to pioneer and they don't even have it....please help as my unit is no more than a bt device at the moment

Sorry in advance if this is a but harsh, but you did not read or follow the instructions. Not only did you put V3 files on your V2 system but you did not get a backup. Some lessons have to be learnt the hard way.

To fix your system you have a few options.

1. Obtain a full backup of the 500 from V2, deletes all the subdirectories on your 500 (not the files in the root dir) and copy over the files from another 500. If you search the forums you will find one. You can use any F500 backup and just alter the sys.txt for you model number. Uss the V2 map posted here. Again do some seacrhing you will find the answers to that

2. Purchase V3 upgrade from Pioneer spare parts and update to V3. I don't know if that will work automaticly as your files are mixed, but you will have the files to do it manually. Their is plenty of in on the this forum on doing that if you search.

3. Send it back to Pioneer for repair.

Having some issues.

i have extracted your updated to sd and have copied as per your instructions and it hasnt worked and is now constantly restarting.

i have clicked on map when its loading up and it seems to restart when "MAINSCREEN LOAD" comes up.

any idea why this is happening?

Fortunately for me, (unlike the other guy) i have made a backup and was able to revert my actions but i would love for this update to work.

stupid question do i delete the old apl2 folder or just overwrite the files which are included in the latest update?

Sounds like the licemce file.

Apply my First V3 update. That will padate the licence file and driver warning

Once you do that apply the 16.1 maps again.

The easy way is to extract the V3.01 update to your SD card then extract the Map update over the top of it.

Follow the 301 instructions and all should be well

Hi I am new to this forum and have just brought an Australian AVIC F900BT (I live in Melbourne). I have updated the firmware to Ver_2.009000 from the pioneer website. I have looked through posts on this forum and I have become a little confused. Now please don't get mad at me for asking this, I'm not too certain if this is the right place to ask but I was wondering if it would be at all possible for any of you nice people to post a complete in-depth guide including download links on how to update my AVIC to the latest firmware, the latest maps and traffic cam info, get the "traffic" working & install mods like the voice guidance mute and any other good mods. (also if you could post any draw backs of doing this)

also if you could tell me if there is any way of doing the following:

• control the guidance voice volume with the volume knob (ie having the music louder also turns up the volume for the GPS)

• voice control things with the AU AVIC (ie say something like "play artist eminem" and have the AVIC do it)(Maybe with some third party software)

• improve boot time

You have 2 choices for Updates

1. With V2 Firmware use my original mods.

2. With V3 Firmware use my V3 Mod and map update.

Both have detailed instructions and both can be found in this thread. If you are unsure about anything read and search then ask. Everything you need to know is here.

To answer your other questions.

I am working on a Mod for Oz units. For now I recommend using IDT's V2 mod that allows to set all the volumes separately. None of the mods have dynamic volume using the audio volume. Dynamic volumes increases the Nav sounds with vehicle speed. Something I want to look at but way down on my list. No promises on that.

Voice control or VR is shipped with US units and not in the OZ or EU. Again something on my list to look at. It's been tried with V2 firmware but I don't think anyone has looked at this yet for V3.

V3 is much faster booting than V2. With my mod the Audio powers up before the Igo Nav. So your Radio, Ipod ect will be working then The Camera, Then Igo (nav). When you boot into audio you can press map and see the Map software loading. I recommend purchasing V3 if you did not get the free update. V3 will also enable the TMC (suna traffic)

What would happen if I tried to install the V3 firmware/map onto a F900BT bought from the US? Would it kill the unit?

Well I've applied the 3.0 firmware and the map updates to my US F900BT. He problem I'm having now though is that my navigation has no voice directions. The music mutes for the prompts but no voice is emitted. WHat files are responsible for this and how can I go about fixing it?

I think i need the voice files to go with the australian maps. I currently only have the US ones. I tried to use the previous aus ones from the v2 map updates but with no success. Also is it just me or does the nav take longer to load after this update?

Ok so i got it all working. I just deleted the phenome file and it all seems to be good now. One other thing i have noticed and its probably unrelated to this update is that my VR doesnt seem to be working properly. When i click the menue buton the screen pops up but there is no beep sound to indicate i can start talking. The wheel starts to spin however. I can make calls and stuff although when i ask it to play an aritist is just goes to the ipod screen and doesnt change artists.
