sily rabit: let me ask you did you do a hardwire hack?

Posted Aug 18, 2009 · 00:50 UTC#127

I used testmode to disabled the beeps by renaming the files. I have the brake wire grounded. I don't have any of the themes or navigation modifications.

All;

I got my password, but when I enter it, the DONE button does not light up. It appears my 15 digit password is 1 digit too short! I printed the screen and entered it several times. Anyone else getting this?

I installed my update without any problems whatsoever. I did not have any mods on my deck. Maybe they are bad cards or maybe some mods are causing the problems.

Password should be 16 digits

I have the hardware brake bypass installed, had it since day 1.

I like the unit much better now. Looks better, much more responsive, etc. Now I just need some good mods like the one from Stanislavovich, but ported to 3.0.

I did loose my Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ settings.

I got a good password and my update completed with no problems. I did get that error ( "Update Failed" hit retry to continue). It came up twice, i hit retry both times and it finished. The last time was at 99%, that got me worried but it completed with no errors. My F700 is so much better. It is much improved, too bad it was not like this 13 months ago when i got the unit. I guess the wait paid off. I was thinking of getting a Z110BT regardless of the outcome of this update but now i don't think i will.

As of 8am, East Coast Time, the site is STILL down............

10:30AM - Still down, and the correct phone # is 1-800-Pioneer, I just called and guess what, their system is down as well.....

Finally got my password at about 8:30pm. Update went smooth, got 1 "Update Failed" message, but when I hit retry, I got "Update Successful". Remember to take the final steps and wait for MSN Direct to update before you play around. Check the last 2 pages of the instruction manual that came with the SD cards. Initial impressions are good, my F90 is MUCH faster when scrolling through screens. Key beeps are there, but subdued and very tolerable. I did not lose any AV setings (EQ, SLA, HPF, etc), but my navi settings were gone. I did not drive with the navi yet, so I'll update tomorrow.

Just finished the update. Took 50 minutes and only 1 error at 99%. Hit retry and it finished just fine. Everything is extremely responsive. So far it was definitely worth the $68. IPOD controls are faster, all touchscreens are more responsive, maps look good. :D

Version 3 has resolved the USB issue. If you are playing music from a USB device it will resume AT THE BEGINNING of the song that you left off on... I guess resuming a song where you left off is still a little too much to ask...

An idea. Only an idea. For those that only get a 15 digit password, has anyone tried to add a '0' at the front, as the first digit? I have no idea if this will work, but oftentimes computers leave out leading zero's. Maybe that's the first digit. Someone give it a try and let the others know. Again, this is just speculation.

16 digit pass here - install went perfect like poster above me i had to hit retry once at 99%. def better then 2.0 firmware!

Posted Aug 18, 2009 · 05:40 UTC#140

I ended up getting one of the 15 digit passwords. I tried adding the zero in front of the password and it worked i was able to start the update. :D

[Once you leave this screen, the password CANNOT be regenerated]

Not true. With the same device code and media code you can regenerate your UNIQUE password as many times as you need.

FOR THOSE WHO GOT A 15 DIGIT CODE - THIS WORKS!

I had a 15 digit password and adding a 0 seemed to solve it iam now updating my car wish me luck :(

Posted Aug 18, 2009 · 18:10 UTC#145

Yay! Installed and updated :)

Things I've noticed:

I had only one error at 99%, the rest was smooth.

Panning the maps is now actually usable.

the new button sounds are better imo

buttons are very fast :)

I want to see if the bt has been improved. After work I'll call some people and see. I just want the buttons to work and for the right thing to be displayed! It would be nice to reverse the order of the contact names, but that might be asking too much.

Hello...

I got the password yesterday and installed the software smoothly without any issue.

It did took like 30 min or so to complete the entire task.

Now my F90BT is finally working the way I had always wished it did four months ago...

Every command touch is responsive and quick.

Ipod and HD-Radio operate much better, without the lags.

Bootup time is shorter, and rearview camera comes up quicker too right after engine starts.

And the new map graphics is beautiful.....

Bluetooth works perfectly with my Iphone, no issue.

MSN Direct has more icons, have not tried them yet.

This unit finally operate with speed equaling my previous D3 unit.

I am enjoying my newly re-newed Nav ....

Does anyone know how I can mod it so I don't have to press the 'OK' button everytime I press MAP.

This is the only annoying thing I want to rid.

Thank you.

Not true. With the same device code and media code you can regenerate your UNIQUE password as many times as you need.

What about using the same media code with a 2nd device code? Would that generate a new unique password for the 2nd device? Or, would it give an error message that the media code was used already?

I have an F700 in each of our two cars. I'm not too horribly bent out of shape having to pay the $60 for the SD cards. But, I definitely don't want to pay that twice. (Personally, I think they should provide the 3.0 FW update for free, and charge only for the maps. )
