You could use the convertor box the way you are thinking, but there would be some issuses. The good news: if the box has A/V outputs, you wouldn't need to have a regular (NTSC) TV tuner - just feed it thru an A/V input. The bad news: 1. No control thru the headunit - tuning done in convertor, not TV (like a cable or sat box) 2. Need good antenna 3. Don't mean to sound nasty - but do you have(or done) the following steps? 1. Have a GEX-P10XMT XM tuner - that is the only one that is NAV TRAFFIC capable 2. Check data cable from GEX-P10XMT to the AVIC. It is a seperate cable from the power & IP-Bus 3. Have you signed up for the NAV TRAFFIC service thru XM - its about $ 5.00 more a month for it. It will not play HD-DVDs. They are a High-Definition video source that uses a different laser & decoding system than regular DVDs.

FYI - Pioneer has stopped making the AVH-P6800DVD & no replacement planned. What is in the USA is it - from what our rep tells us..

Have them double-check where they plugged the microphone in - I see this fairly often, they either plug it into the hardwire/steering wheel remote jack, or " It has a seperate microphone??? ".

Depending on the vehicle, there are several companies that make adapters to interface with OEM Bose systems. Most Bose systems are setup for just 2 channels of audio (L & R), and then process/crossover from there, not leaving the user very much in the way of control (Fader, Balance, etc..). My opinion is if you are not going to try to add other speakers to the system, then you can use it. If you want more bass, better highs (I know, I know - "no highs, no lows, it must be Bose!"), then you usually be better off taking it all out & starting from the ground up.

1.5 meter IP-Bus Cable is CD-IP150, it is not an extension, it is male to male, like the longer cables that come with the CD changers, XM, etc... As far as I know, there are 2 AV-Bus Cables( 0.5 meter(CD-AB50)and 3 meter(CD-AB300) and a 3 meter extension (CD-AB301E).
