  1. 3D maps are coming. Volkswagen to be first. http://www.automotoportal.com/article/Volkswagen_and_Google_develop_revolutionary_navigation_system http://www.navigadget.com/index.php/2006/03/27/cnet-video-review-of-google-vw-navigation-system/
  2. It's in your manual and can be found here by searching. Please don't ask for spoonfeeding.
  3. Deleted double posting. Sorry.
  4. They ARE in the correct ratio. 'Guess it was only a matter of time .... what's next? Porn?
  5. It's the season. And here's my current screen.
  6. That's exactly what I've got. The tib file is 9,278,202 KB. It's working great. I remember others reporting the smaller size also earlier in this thread. Not sure if it worked for them but would think that even if it works, something has to be missing.
  7. Huh? If I remember right, the 2.5" hdd has 43 pins and the IDE cable has 39 pin holes. The 2.5 to 3.5 adapter that you need matches both. What jumper?? If you can't remove the screws, look at my post earlier in this thread on how to make it easy with a dremel tool .....or buy a replacement plate.
  8. Unfortunately I don't have the answer but am very surprised at what you're saying. I certainly expect to be able to take my car to Europe, buy the european CD, and navigate happily ever after. I'm doing it with my Garmin portable so why on earth would Pioneer not offer the same for their high end navi I would hang on to that Z2 for a little while. Surely there is a simple way of using it over there. Try Crutchfield, they have excellent customer support via live chat, phone or email. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/prodsearch.asp?sp=lnav&search=Pioneer+Z2&go.x=22&go
  9. Yes it does BUT it puts a PIONEER overlay at the top of your screen anyway. To remove this banner you have to go into the hard drive and rename or remove the default bmps.
  10. Already been to Logic computer and to CTY both say they have it on their website BUT are out of stock and can't get any at the moment. Tiger Direct wants $15 more but is also out of stock. Guess I have to wait.
  11. Having a problem getting another Toshiba 60 or 80 gig in Toronto. Has anyone been able to get equal results with another make for increasing the music partition?
  12. Went to Plan "B": Put the drive in an external hdd enclosure with USB connection and all is working fine. I want to see if I can Replace the Overlay files (CPYCustom.bmp and CPYdefault.bmp) with my own overlay files of that same name. These include the license plate number in small letters in a corner. I figure if it gets stolen too, then the guy buying the stolen unit will know who it belongs to. Is he going to contact me? Probably not. ...But he'll have a hard time removing the screen or explaining it.
  13. Having done the Z2 upgrade, I now want to remove that overlay from the custom opening splash screen. Replacing my CDburner in the Desktop with the new 80gigToshiba Z2 HDD now results in my machine not booting up. Post stops at a blinking cursor. It worked fine for restoring the Z2 image to this drive. Security was successfully removed from this drive. Any thoughts on how to get back in to do the splash screen update?
  14. I had my Avic D1 stolen because of this giveaway antenna. My Z1/Z2 now has an under dash antenna and a dummy radio plate cover.
  15. If you want to REPLACE the drive with a bigger one then you have to re-use the plate. The prefered way of updating to the Z2 image appears now to be going with a new drive. You get 50 gig (Toshiba 80 gig drive) of musik storage and you keep your existing drive untouched. Very little difference in cost.
  16. Have you tried A-FF ? http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3568 But why not leave it locked and put in a new 60 or 80 gig for about the same money or a few bucks more?
  17. 'Had the same problem removing the screws that hold the HDD to the mounting plate that others have reported. Here is a quick way to overcome: Grind a slot into the screw head with a dremel tool and immediately, while the screw is still hot, use a good fit flat screwdiver and the sucker will come out without effort. Add to FAQ at the top of this thread.

  19. Who says that I read them? I just did a quick check back then. More to the point: Fact is that the Z2 has corrected some of the routing problems and that those idiotic and totally unnessary detours are now the exeption rather then the norm. Jan 2008: I take that back! After going on several trips since this post I've come to realize that the routing is just as bad in the Z2 as it was in the Z1.
  20. I used Acronis to write the original image...I didn't know you could enlarge the MSV partition with it though.... I don't think that you can do it wit Acronis IMAGE. Use Acronis DISK DIRECTOR. -Sweet program for doing partition work from within Vista.
