  1. nevermind i found it on pioneers site http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/par ... um=CDE7836 50 bucks!!!!!
  2. I was going to enable xm navtraffic on my avic but i lost the data cable that came with the xm tuner so it wont work. Anyone know where i can find this cable. It's kinda like a tiny USB cable
  3. u need n3 or above for advanced ipod interface
  4. you cannot swap the brains on the n2 to an n3 without also switching the headunit. It will not give you the upgraded xm and ipod functionality. You can send it to a shop on ebay to have them upgrade it to an n3 for like 270 bucks
  5. just a map update, nothing else
  6. hope someone puts up a torrent soon
  7. mine is mounting on the back of trunk below the window. I think i need to relocate as I lose connection on cloudy days...
  8. Yesterday I received a letter from Pioneer that basically stated the upgrade disc is on backorder and will remain so until shippable unless canceled by me. So the waiting begins, but we know the price is $120 - at least for now. regards ~Marc cant wait for someone to rip it and post the torrent on here. The 70MT disks are the biggest piece of garbage I have ever used. Its given me directions that take an hour longer on road trips. Its city directions in DC are HORRIBLE, it's taken me to the wrong spot so many times ive had to go back to yahoo maps to get directions. If only I
  9. i bet you're using a burned disc. Try reburning one speed slower than the disc is rated problem fixed
  10. weird, i havent touched my antenna since it stopped gettin a signal, now its working perfect again... hmmmm, maybe the satellites were misaligned for a week, lol
  11. I have the N1 upgraded with mod chip to N3 and everything worked great for about 6 months. Then my GPS antenna seemed to go dead, i would drive around but it would never acquire a signal. Id unplug it and it would say disconnected. I reset my unit, bought a new antenna and bam, everything worked fine again. About a week later, the same exact problem occured, the antenna wont acquire a signal. I tried moving the antenna around, repositioning and never acquired the signal anywhere. At 50 bucks a pop these antennas are not cheap and I hope that my N3 isnt somehow shorting it out. Any ideas?
  12. try using dvd decryptor to burn ur dvds instead. Google it, free dl
  13. yea i had that problem too. The POI search wouldn't work in my home state, i would type in a search and it would just take me back to the map without doing anything. But when i traveled to a different region the searches worked fine. I would try reburning the disks one speed slower than the burner is rated (i.e. if you have an 8x burner, try burning at 4x) oh yea i have an N1 upgraded to an N3 with the chip
  14. buy a dvd burner if you dont have one (about 30 bucks for a nice one off newegg.com) and then just burn the disk using dvd decryptor (free dl, do a google search) and use this link to dl the 70 disks. They work perfectly for me! http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8959 total upgrade cost $0!!!
  15. Ive been trying to search the forum for what Ipod version you need to use with an N3 and have not been successful. I want to buy an ipod to use on my N3 but I keep reading that firmware and generation models make a difference. What is the recommended working ipod info i need to buy an Ipod and use with the avic n series
  16. if you're using CNDV-40MT disks then just ground the parking break wire and you'll bypass it. If you are using 50MT disks or greater then you need to connect two jumpers opening up the unit and shouldn't be attempted if you don't know what you're doing, but the how-to guide is on this forum as well with pictures. Otherwise you can send it off to this ebay guy to bypass it for you which i did and works great with 70MT disks http://cgi.ebay.com/BYPASS-AVIC-N1-unlo ... dZViewItem
  17. ahhhh a fellow trance addict. Ur right about area 33, sometimes i wish i could get a nice di.fm connection straight to my car, then id prolly trash xm altogether. Navtraffic is worthless in DC anyway, where is it gonna reroute you to, another traffic jam???
  18. I agree, but you might be able to send ur unit off for upgrades in the near future to one of those ebayer shops that mod the hardware of the unit. But the N4 seems almost completely different in terms of hardware, so maybe its not possible. I paid 275 to upgrade my N1 to an n3 with full xm and ipod controls and unlocked with 70mt disks. Im hoping that something similar will pop up for the n4. I think its totally worth it to spend a little money to have the latest greatest machine
  19. the EBAYER sent me the instructions after i asked for them, here's how it's done... Have yet to test it, but it looks like this will work for any avic n1-n4 and possibly others Programming a TR7 to bypass PIONEER motion security FYI, the following will work even if your parking brake, speed sense and GPS is all attached properly. You do not need to defeat these systems for this bypass to work. IF at ANY point you mess up during this process unhook the red power line, turn your PAC switch off and then back on, reattach power and start over. READ THE ENTIRE INSTRUCTION SET before sta
  20. well i got my PAC TR-7 unit, im not sure how it wires up or if the bypass is even possible with this unit as it only gives instructions for alpine radios. I think im just gonna use that ebay guy to transform my n1 into an unlocked n3
  21. im gonna send to that ebay guy too, cheaper than buying a new n3 brain
  22. dude i already know all that, when i upgrade the disk the bypass comes into play with the new software/firmware which is why i havent upgraded yet but these 2k4 maps are vastly outdated and nav doesnt know where to send me half the time anymore. The N1 bypass is much tougher then any other bypass cause the solder points are so tiny u can fry ur whole board if ur not skilled which is why im gonna try out this module. Anyways, i'll let you guys know if it works if not im out 30 bucks and ill try the solder. It's just stupid that if u have a passenger in the car they cant enter the nav for u caus
  23. i did go ahead and order it, im gonna try it out with the the avicn1 headunit and n3 brain with cndv 70 disks. Quite a mix and match i got going on. Ill let you guys know if it all works
  24. Hey all i already know about the soldering method of the n1 bypass, but i saw this ebay link for a "module" bypass and was wondering if anyone tried this, or knows what it was or if this is just a scam with instructions to do a solder? If this works id rather pay 30 bucks than rip apart my unit and risk destroying it... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... gory=67771
