1. Nice job, Damage. Instead of velcro, you can recess the avic-z1 unit a little further back, upon install. Your faceplate will the slide in perfectly. I will post pictures on how my F-150 was done.

    fanito, I agree. jsb123
How much did it cost for the professional install?
Don’t know yet, I didn’t ask.
And how much trouble did they go to for the mounting of the microphone and GPS antenna?
Mic is completely hidden near my auto start antenna. The GPS is hidden under the shroud right below the windshield wipers, but my Sirius antenna is pathed through the rear light. Sirius antenna’s like to see full sky.
And for another question: where is a good hidden away place to install the Sirius PNR2 option?
He found a place behi

I have a thinkpad also and never had a problem with Ghost. I also choose not to have the IBM crap to not partition and name my hard drive to "Secure Drive". Keep in mind, I took most of the IBM Bloatware out of it, so speeds are mucho pleasure. I kept the fingerprint schtuff. Do you know what brand of HD it uses (the Avic-Z1). From what I am reading, it is winblows automotive as the op sys.
  4.
well I looked at the site and did a shop locator their were few repair shops here but what I don't get, they were all T.V. repair facility what would a tv repair place know about navi units harddrives I dont know about you guys but I wouldnt send my deck to tv repair. thats my .02 grcplaya
Because TV repair is all there was at one time. No Nav, no computers, no hard drives (affordable anyway)...get the jest? They use to fix/replace simple tubes in TV's and radios. The guy I have (the company) is called 'Page TV' and I will match them to to any hig
  5. From what I understand, Pioneer had fixed the echo issue.

There has to be something in there that tells it to shut down if it sees greater than 30 GB. If you clone a drive, you are doing just that, an exact duplicate. So I figure there must be some lil' script in there to check for 30 GB's.
  7. My horrible ongoing experience with 6thAve. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1611

I had talked to 3 people with the same attitude and answers. I will be returning everything I bought from them (if I can) They are all installed and I will leave them installed, until I get word from Amex. They might just allow the unit itself to be returned. I will get the unit elsewhere (avic-z1). Amex already asked me for a letter from the installer, which I have and I had faxed over already. :D
  9. Call it what you will, anything with a hard drive, I buy the extended. :D One year and one day the unit will crash...I will have my receipt and my "service plan" in hand. $0 deductable.

Okay, so I was told I can have the Avic-Z1 and all the accessories (I was told they were in stock) shipped to me in a matter of a week. 6th Ave is the name of the company. Well, everything came in dribs and drabs. I was mad, and was weary about my decision in buying from 6th Ave. Electronics. They are on the list of “Authorized Dealers” on Pioneer’s website. Many phone calls and headaches. I was going to install the package in my F-150 myself. Didn’t make much sense to take my dash apart to install parts as they came in. NON-Returnable – stuck. I will tell you, everyone that I have s
  11. I bought one, but the only reason I purchased it, was that a reputable repair company (who I do business with, on a daily basis) was on that list. If you live in Long Island, I can suggest the place.
  12. If purchased from an Authorized Pioneer Dealer and the unit is under a year old, the Dealer must replace (not repair) the unit.
  13. Actually, BlueTooth is a standard and phone companys (carriers) like to play games so you have to download using their $ervices.

All I have to say, bud, is go with your gut feeling. Good luck!
  15.
skicrave said, BTW, are you a wakeboarder, or just a boat owner?
Sure is hot out.
  16. I tossed the guy an email. I have family in the UK. I am trying to get one of these for my Ford F-150, or at least tell me were he gets 'em. I let you know how I make out.
  17. There is nothing wrong with most extended warranty companies (as long as they are authorized), I surely wouldn't take any high-end equipment to BBuy or CCity (they probably ship it out to fix anyway). I have an authorized repair company near me and they are fantastic. We use them for all of our cctv equipment. They were on the extended warranty list of companies that were authorized - so, for piece of mind, I bought a 5 year. :D I'll probably sell the truck b4 I use it.

    Rear view camera

As long as the cam is 12 volt and it has an RCA connectors, any cam should work. Best if you get a wide angle lens with Sony's Ex-view (expensive, but it is the best technology).
  19. Here is my experience with 6ave (not pleasant). Ask me, they are a very unsavory company and teach their sales team these practices. I don't want to double post, so here is the link. 20. There isn't a list from Pioneer? Not a good thing, Martha.
  21.
Just an FYI: Bluetooth and 802.11 are on the same frequency and will interfere with each other.
Just a shot in the dark, but wouldn't both devices need to be on 802.11 if they were to talk to eachother?
