  1. It sounds like from some reports it wipes out all your settings, so it might not be smart enough to check for that stuff. Since it's easy enough to go into service mode and just do a rebuild from the X series 3.x backup I will just give it a shot.
  2. I got an email that it just shipped from pioneer. I did the X series 3.0 hack on my F90BT does anyone have any experience of flashing over it with the legit version?
  3. Just wanted to report another F90BT updated sucessfully. I even purchased the pioneer upgrade but I got sick of waiting for it.
  4. Bug Fixes and software updates should be free of charge. Maps updates should cost money. They should be separate.
  5. Your bypass probably failed. I was unable to access the system and navi settings until the hardward bypass was fixed.
  6. I also ordered a F90BT from 6ave on Amazon and received it quickly and in working order. Was 2.0 updated as well.
  7. Just wanted to confirm that the F90BT and GEX-P10XMT work together to allow you to get XM music only, no traffic (no data port on the F90BT). I activated it tonight with my new F90BT and it's working great.
  8. Depends on if you are measuring WITH plugs plugged into the back..or not. Also..what type of unit do you have in dash now? Double Din is..Double Din. Not always try the Chevy Cobalt is double din but the dash isn't deep enough for double din units. I had to modify the dash to get it to fit in correctly.
  9. I read your post, so you have personally made the GEX-P10XMT work on the F90BT ?
  10. So just to spell it out. Will the GEX-P10XMT work on the F90BT for music only? The reason I ask, I am replacing a failed D3 with an F90BT. I am going to try but it would be nice to know ahead of time if I am wasting my time trying.
  11. I just removed the unit from my dash and went back to stock. I did get it to fire up breifly and went to the Hardware screen, the device mentions excessive vibration and that I should contact my service center. I called pioneer, I need to send it back with a 200 dollar check if I want it repaired. I don't like the D3 enough to get it fixed. I think I am going to just get a Nuvi, I considered a F700BT but if it's anything like the D3 it aint gonna last long.
  12. I can't imagine you would have to upgrade to get the message to go away. It more likely the motor in the drive or something is failing.
  13. Wow I am suprised so many ppl have the same issue. I just started getting this. I noticed that the time on my unit was **:** so I turned off the car and back on to powercycle the unit. When it came back up I get the insert appropriate disk message as well. I haven't tried to update anything, and the DVD has been in the drive since the moment I got it . I don't don't switch it out for anything since I have an ipod. I get sound via FM but the screen and menu buttons are non responsive. I have had the unit about 14 months now, so I am out of warrenty as well.
  14. you also need to make sure you supply a +12V to the steering controls as well. I hooked mine up a long time ago so I am not exactly sure, but the instructions where a little fuzzy on that part. The stock head unit supplies +10V to the the controls and if you follow the direction with the SWI-PS it leaves that part out. You need to find that +10V wire on the stock harness and hook up a +12 (you can't do +10 anymore without the stock headunit). Then you should be able to program it ok. The stock system works (at least on my 2005) worked on a +10V reference and a series of resist
  15. I am using the VSS sensor wire on the PCM C3 connection, I think it's purple and pin 4? I could be wrong I haven't looked at it in a while, but I am sure it's the correct wire, I got it from my factory service manual, the ignition is a COP and uses a different set of wires which I also use for my nitrous controller I have been living with this for about 1 years, however since I am spending more time in stop and go it's throwing the code daily. I would try the BCM but it appears there is no VSS on the BCM with the new fangled GMLAN. I might try to find a non driven wheel sensor lead

  17. yeah the avic bluetooth completely fails with the Samsung I760, the new phones are so advanced the avic bluetooth just fails.
  18. So I have my speed sensor lead connected into my PCM. Looks like 4 pulses per 1 mph. The AVIC works great. BUT At low speed between 0-11 mph the car's PCM registers no speed signal at all or intermittent. The AVIC D3 registers the speed correctly. This is causing issues with the speed sensitive power steering and the CEL below as a result. P0503 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit Intermittent -PCM I can have the wire tapped in at the PCM connector and I have it soldered in. Am I missing something here. For the time being I have decided to unhook the speed wire o
  19. I have mine clipped to the headliner above the driver and it works great. I am not sure how you would mount the mic out of sight, it needs to be available for the driver to speak into. It is quite sensitive and pick up my voice fine.
  20. I have speak level outputs to my GM External AMP pioneer System for my Cobalt. It sucks the installer gave you the car back, either without testing their work, or testing it and not caring if it worked at all.
  21. I have a similar setup, when I select bluetooth stereo on my D3 and hold down the voice dial on my moto q it plays perfect. If I voice dial from the bluetooth phone it doesn't work, the prompts are VERY faith and you need to crank up the volume to hear them, but even then you can't understand. I have messed around with the user handsfree for standard audio both checked and up checked and it make no difference. I have even tried to install just the hands free and not the bluetooth stereo but didn't work either. I gave up.
  22. speed sensitive volume is almost standard on every GM car. It's an great feature. If you are just blasting music it's not that necessary, but if you listen to talk or at a more reasonable volume it's great.
  23. I agree with you about rush hour, no amount of nav traffic is going to help with rush hour. However when 355 a major artery in Montgomery County is jammed I would expect an alert regarding it on my nav traffic. Another example, it's Saturday and I am heading on 270 / 495 / 267 to dulles ariport, there is an accident on 495 @ river road, there is no alert, I don' t find out about it till I am stuck in traffic on the 270 spur. The accident was old because it's cleared by the time I get there. All the alerts I see are on the south side of the beltway. The coverage is spotty at best and
  24. I live in Mountgumery County MD, outside DC and I haven't experienced a situation where NAV Traffic helped me.
  25. If it's a static shock I don't think disconnecting the battery would tell you anything, that was more of a suggestion for the continuous voltage. Not sure where you live but in the winter months when the air gets dry the environment gets more conducive to a static electricity.
