  1. In settings turn the backup camera input on, and the camera view mode off.
  2. Not for sure, but someone correct me if i am wrong, the navi units i.e. 5000,6000,7000,8000 NEX units, store the navi internally. So either sdcard or usb should work to update the maps. I also think i read either has to be 8 gb and formatted to fat32.
  3. You may have to root to utilize launcher too, i can't remember. My Samsung S5 Sport is rooted, so it wasn't an issue.
  4. I would venture to guess, the first gen nex, will get firmware update, it may be 4-6 months after Android auto is available.
  5. Carplay has been so buggy for me, i just stopped using it. I use all genuine apple cables, and genuine pioneer usb extension. Latest firmware on everything. I was hoping for an updated firmware from Pioneer, but not holding my breath.
  6. FYI, if you have AVH4000NEX, with avic U-250 or U-260. You update the SDCARD that came with the unit, do NOT format the card, you will lose all navi info. Naviextras with update the card and you just reinsert the card in the unit.
  7. go to google store and search launcher, or search Apex, Touchwiz, or google now. You install it and pick it as launcher. It will ask if you want to use the launcher only once, or set as default. I would google "android launcher", it should explain.
  8. the whole removable screen is 170.00 not available until 2/20/2015 http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=CXE6932 The touchscreen 45.00 http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=CSX1194
  9. Get the largest one you can afford.
  10. Will pick up at Post Office monday morning, then will test and post pics if successful.
  11. Do you have micro bypass for brake, or have you done the software bypass as per 1st sticky post on this forum. It looks like this is what is keeping you from seeing the screen.
  12. Have you tried, resetting your NEX, and rebooting your phone? Since you unplugged the power, you may need to go into your settings and make sure all are set. I think it defaults all the settings and you may need to enable some of your inputs. Just a thought.
  13. the reason the nex says 32gb max on sdcard, is because sdhc max is 32 gb, and formatted fat32. sdxc on the other hand is Microsoft exfat and pioneer would have to pay MS to read those sdcards. But there is nothing wrong with formatting a sdxc card to fat32 and loading it with media. The problem people have had is when they constantly write and rewrite to the reformatted cards, is corruption in the files have occurred. My thinking is write it once and let the nex only read, hence no corruption. Time will tell, if i am right. I have around 200 ripped dvds on the sdcard and play them daily for th
  14. I have hooked up chrome cast, Macbook Pro, Android minipc/tvstick, Apple tv. The requirement for all the casting is having to be on a network. Thus i installed a hotspot 4g LTE, to create a network and have internet access. The android minipc/stick worked, but was real cheap and bluetooth would not connect to NEX, so i have ordered an android mini-pc, with 4 gb of ram and 16gb of memory, and am adding 64 gb sdcard to max out storage. It has latest android OS, and is over the air upgradable, with 1 usb 3.0, 2 usb 2.0, sata connection, wireless N, ethernet, rooted. My plan is to run app radio un
  15. The only files that are going to be over 4 gb, are video files, and the NEX will not play anything over 4 gb anyway. The fat32 is how all my drives, cards etc are formatted. I can not remember why i changed from NTFS, but it had to do something with categorizing the files, or resuming where left off. I first tried NTFS and had an issue, and since changed. I don't think either is faster than the other.
  16. FYI. there are two 3.5mm connections, 1 is wired remote which your maestro should be hooked up to, the second is the aux. The aux is in between the wired remote and the antenna(radio).
  17. the aux input is connected via a rca composite to 3.5mm plug. If you do not have this type of cable hooked up to aux, nothing will show up.
  18. try the a/v input. my digital tv tuner is hooked up to mine.
  19. Here is list of compatible android phones and connection needed for appradio mode. To get full control of all apps on android, you must root the phone and purchase appradio unchained, or AR Liberator(both ob google store for 29.99) . With iphone you have carplay using only usb cord, or appradio using Apple digital A/V Adapter. Either way, app radio is limited to only official apps. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/UnAssigned-Content/Android+Compatibility
  20. Not sure what you are asking here. MirrorLink is only available for Android, and not apple(yet). You can mirror your iPhone, using the apple digital a/v adapter, which will only mirror the screen, if you hit hdmi as input(you will not be able to control your phone thru the head unit tho). The usb to lightning that plugs into the Apple a/v adapter will charge the phone(you do not have to plug it into the usb ports on head unit, using the adapter, because it is only charging the phone, not communicating, you can use a car charger, leaving usb ports open for other use). If you are going to use th
  21. I purcased a PNY, thru amazon, for $105. the 64 gb i used first was a Samsung Pro. Both have worked flawlessly.
  22. you either have carplay via usb1 or app radio via apple a/v adapter. can't have both. Also note, when you have apple a/v adapter hooked up, the usb port is used for charging only, the head unit will not connect thru the usb to lightning, and if you hit usb1 while hooked up this where are you, it will give you an error message, "not a compatible device". You have to understand, the apple digital a/v adapter separates the audio/video and sends thru hdmi to head unit. charging is thru lightning to usb, no communication, head unit communicates to iPhone thru bluetooth.
  23. Plug into usb1. If it doesn't automatically boot to carplay, setup smartphone setup to usb, enable carplay.
  24. I first purchased 64GB sdxc card, formatted to fat32 and filled with flac files. I used this for 2 months(daily) with no issues whatsoever. So I purchased 256 gb sdcard, formattec to Fat32 and filled with mp4 ripped dvds, and have had no issues. I am aware, people have had corruption issues in the past, doing this, but the problem arrose when they were writing and rewriting on the card. My feeling is, fill it and leave it. Corruption usually is not caused by reading only. Time will tell if this is a viable option. Anyone else with longer term experience?
  25. Yes you can, another alternative, is putting all your music and videos and pics on a solidstate drive in a usb external drive enclosure. you can also get a sdcard up to 512 gb, format to fat32 and put movies, pics, music.
