  1. I think what it comes down to is the quality of the DAC used in the iPhone vs. the one used in the head unit, not the 30-pin connector or otherwise. But, I could be mistaken.
  2. I have the update, but if you look at the description for it on the iTunes App Store, it doesn't say anything about one-cable connection like in the Australian version referenced above. Unless it's changed--I haven't looked at it since last night.
  3. I notice that none of the U.S. models are listed in the compatible hardware section, so either it just hasn't been released here, or for some reason it's not going to work in the U.S. Guess we'll just have to wait and see....
  4. Same here. The description doesn't mention anything about it. Could Pioneer have pulled it?
  5. Just tried it, and it didn't work at all for me. Tried USB1 and USB2, but the unit wouldn't connect with just the Lightning cable.
  6. Interesting. I'll have to try this out and see if Appradio mode is any more stable now.
  7. On a related note, is there any advantage in using a flash drive vs an SD card or vice versa?
  8. Looks like that one is on sale for $34.99 right now. Might have to grab one of those.....
  9. So is there no fix to get the NEX to recognize track numbers in Tag mode? I was playing around with it for a while, but if I'm wasting my time, I'll give up. I might also reconsider getting an SSD in the first place if this is the case.
  10. That's a great price. Does it read/load files quickly?
  11. Hmm is that why my NEX doesn't recognize track numbers on my FLAC files? In Tag mode, it only lists the songs alphabetically, not by the number in the file tag.
  12. What's the capacity on your drive, and what did you pay for it?
  13. I'm thinking about getting an SSD to use with USB2 for all my lossless files, and was wondering if anyone can suggest a brand/model that they've had a good experience with when used with a NEX unit. Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks.
  14. All of the update folders say NEX5000, regardless of what model you have. As long as you downloaded the right file initially, this is not an issue.
  15. I have the same problem sometimes only when using CarPlay. I'll turn the unit on but get no audio. I pop the phone out, plug it back in, and it works. Drives me crazy.
  16. Colin83, go into settings and choose Picture Adjustment. Note the level of the Dimmer selection. Then, turn on your headlights. The number for Dimmer should now be lower. If it isn't, adjust accordingly.
  17. Phil, just out of curiosity, what kind of settings would you like to control?
  18. No, I know how to do all that, it's just that I don't want to use the Pioneer controls. I find the interface to be very ugly and unappealing. What I want is to be able to use the CarPlay Music app to access the lossless files on my SD card so that when they play, I'll see the song title and artist info and album art in the CarPlay style. I also realize that this will most likely never happen.
  19. Yeah, I realize that it'll probably never happen, but to me, it's the one thing that would make the CarPlay experience close to perfect.
  20. One thing I'd love to see is for CarPlay to be able to access the SD card for music and show song info in the Now Playing app. I use the SD slot for all my lossless files and I wish I could control them through the CarPlay interface (as opposed to the ugly Pioneer one that looks like it's from 2003).
  21. I use CarPlay, without a doubt. Appradio mode is so buggy and unreliable that when I got my new 4000NEX, I didn't even buy the cables to hook up Appradio. Just wasn't worth the hassle for something that didn't work half the time I tried to use it So far, I'm loving CarPlay. If they'd just add Waze, I'd be thrilled.
  22. I already found the best settings for me, I just wanted to compare to where I started and see the difference.
  23. Pioneer's Auto EQ and time alignment did the same thing in my Toyota RAV4. It said my sub was something like 155 inches away which, let's just say, it isn't. After a couple of passes I scrapped the Auto measurements and did time alignment on my own. Got much better results that way.
  24. I use the HP/LP filters on my amp and disabled the ones on my NEX. I also tried it the other way around, but it sounds a lot better to me this way.
