  1. You should NOT use European firmware updates. From what I understand, they are not interchangeable.
  2. Where? It's not on the website and I didn't get an email.
  3. Where do you see that? The website still shows 1.06 as the latest firmware version.
  4. Excellent! I'm definitely going to try it out since Spotify is still unusable.

    8000 Install

Looks amazing! Question for you--how exactly did you cut out the hole in the wooden iPhone mount for the Lightning connector?

Can the mods please do something about the spam? This forum is becoming unreadable.
  7. Excellent news! Thanks so much for sharing.
  8. Ah, that might explain why when I use Hey Siri I'm not getting any response, but if I long-press the home button, Siri works fine.
  9. It would be different if everything was working fine and people were just nitpicking little things, but I think there are some very justified complaints out there.
  10. To be fair, there are a number of problems. Some people can't even get the update to work.
  11. This makes me wonder if CarPlay is using the external mic at all, or if everything goes through the iPhone's mic (which might be obstructed by however it's mounted or attached in the vehicle).
  12. Well, I'll be calling them tomorrow and hopefully they'll hear about it from enough people to do something about it. But I don't have my hopes up too high.
  13. I have the popping issue, and my setup is as follows: head unit, JL XD700/5 external amp, subwoofer. In my setup, the front components and subwoofer are run off the amp while the rear speakers (which are hardly ever used) are run off the head unit itself. Would be interesting to see if everyone who has the popping issue is using an external amp.
  14. Absolutely do NOT send in your unit. My 4000 worked fine before the update, and the static pop started immediately after the update. So, it is obviously a firmware problem that Pioneer needs to fix.
  15. In my opinion, the biggest risk you take in installing CarPlay right now is that you might end up with the awful static popping problem. That's what happened to me: my unit worked fine before the update, and while I like having CarPlay, I do NOT like the fact that now every time I turn my car off there's a HUGE pop of static through my speakers. And it's happened to other people too. So, given the chance to do it again, I might have waited to see if a fix for this problem would. forthcoming. But knowing Pioneer, that isn't very likely.
  16. For me, the biggest issues are the loud POP when I turn my car off, and the complete loss of Spotify functionality.
  17. I think an SD card has to be formatted as FAT to work.
  18. Did you copy only the folder that says AVICNEX5000?
  19. I think you made the right choice. I have the 4000, and I like the bigger screen. I also still play CDs, and would miss it if I wasn't able to.
  20. Having had both, I can tell you that the capacitive screen scrolls MUCH more smoothly than the resistive one. Your money was well spent. The screen is the only thing I miss about my SPH-DA210.
  21. Actually, that alerts volume setting just came with the new update, so don't feel bad. Glad your problem is fixed.
  22. On the head unit itself, check that the CarPlay option is selected in the main options menu.
