1. ok sounds easy enough to do. connect back to audio input rcas, enable av in setup screen. will try again after work... but with this will i get sound from all speakers?
2. ok, so here's my update. pull the hu out and i see 3 sets of rca plugs. with aux "enabled", i try the first set of plugs which has a sticker around the wire "audio inputs." turn on mp3 player, nothing. so i try 2nd set of plugs, i hear faint sound, but ONLY from rear speakers. figure, that's strange but i go ahead and try the 3rd set of plugs. on the 3rd set, i get full (louder) sound from the front, but fronts ONLY. so my question, what am i doing wrong? was my hu wired up incorrectly b/c it seems like i can only get my aux input to either come out either through fronts or
3. thanks, will do! btw, love your sig. i think the newest sti is by far the best looking one. i'm not sure if you have any performance mods, but stock with just good audio/radar setup is pretty nice too. only have the rx65 but does the laser blocking really work???
4. i was clear until h3 posted but am now confused. did i do something wrong? i bought a wire with 3.5mm female plug on 1 end, and 2 rca male on the other end. i plugged the rca side into the back of the avic, where there were 2 rca females (with a sticker labeled audio input). on the 3.5mm side, i will connect it to my mp3 player. how do i get this to work? do i go into the initial screen and enable aux? or is aux and av "different"?
5. thanks guys, will give it a try after work.
6. what do you mean by enable? when i'm at the source screen and i see a list of sources, the aux icon (has rca plugs as icon) is grey'd out.
7. i had a d2 profesionally installed in my vw passat. only other "accessories" i have, are a jl stealthbox sub and a pioneer 12 disc changer. i recently decided to make an aux input port on an empty dash piece. so i bought a 2 rca male to 1 3.5mm female cable. i secured the 3.5mm side on the dash, and connected to rca end to another set of rca's from the headunit. those wires had a sticker "AUDIO INPUT" yet when i try accessing the aux in the audio sources, it's grey'd out and will not let me choose it. am i doing something wrong?
8. Ipod interface improvements, probably not. None of the n3 improvements were available for the n1/n2. hmm, what do u mean by no n3 improvements were avialable? i upgraded my n1 -> n3 via updated discs. it updated the user interface, menus loaded faster, and had small updated features like which lane to stay in when anticipating an exit.
9. if i recall correctly, the first icon is a measure of sensitivity. the icons afterwards mark the number of satellites you're connecting to. you need at least 3. i don't think the color codes mean anything... i think it's there to help u that yellow = first four, and starting from red is 5 and on... so basically u dont have to count the number of satellites.
10. weird on vw though... b/c both passat and jettas have same double din monsoon yet on my passat, there was a gap between headunit and hvac controls. =T
11. appreciate it. i guess it doesn't have to be a pioneer, as long as it'd mate with the pioneer antenna.
12. another few feet? dunno... i currently have it mounted on top of trunk, near center windshield but everytime i open/close trunk, see some of the wire sticking out of the trunk. i asked the installer if he could fix it but he said he had to loop it "that way" so that it would reach the trunk. if i wanted to hide the wire so it doesn't sneak out when i open/close trunk, he said i need some kind of extension to make cable longer =T
13. uh, there's a function to look up telephone numbers. dont recall exact name of it but it's on first screen under destination menu.
14. Anyone know if Pioeneer sells some kind of extension cable for the GPS antenna? Thanks!
15. can anyone post pix of their back up camera installed?
16. if any of you guys could post pix, that'd be great. i'd be installing on a 2004 vw passat sedan.
17. shawn, thanks for the lengthy explanation. i'm considering getting the pioneer camera but i'm wondering how it'll look. will it blend in well with the car or will it be blatantly obvious to others that there's a backup camera installed... and will some punk kid just yank it and take off with it or damage it? the backup cameras i've seen on oem suv's blend in real well and isn't very noticeable. i'm wondering if the same can be achieved with this.
18.
also make sure the wire you added to the harness is seated completely in the harness.
this is the prob i had when i did bypass. didn't realize the 10th unused pin is actually larger diamter than other pins, so the wire didn't really stay put... it kept sliding out. only when i looked at it carefully i noticed this and made the wire "wider' to accept the larger pin.
19.
I think it's just an issue with the D2. I know I read that it can confuse streets when they are close together or when travelling between tall buildings. Sometimes the best thing to do when this happens and you know is to just modify your current location.
i don't think so. i had this issue with my n1 and at first also thought it was the unit itself but after switching to d2, it's performed flawlessly in nyc. the only times it ever gets "confused" is when i just pulled my car out of an underground garage and it hasn't really found itself for the moment.
20. aslo check connection status to see how many gps satellites you're picking up.
21. not only do you have to zoom, but you have to make sure you're choosing the correct region. after using the address search funtion, before you enter in the street name, check what number you see in the corner. and touch that number to confirm it corresponds to the region you live in. when i first installed my navi, even though i put in the right disc in, it still referred to the wrong state.
22.
One of the best cameras on the market in my opinion is the Pioneer ND-BC1. There are, however, some cameras that are nearly as good for much less, but finding one is usually a crapshoot.
that was a pretty general statement which wasn't very helpful. maybe you can elaborate on why the nd-bc1 is good, and hopefully someone can address my other questions...
23. what's best quality camera and most unnoticeable? also, has anyone tried paint matching to their car so it blends in well? anyoen have pix installed on a sedan?
