    Volvo XC90

Has anyone on the forum put a Z series into an Volvo XC90 2007 and up? I know they do not make a double din face plate and know that you have to leave the original radio connected but hidden so other vehicular functions will work on the XC90. My question is will the factory amps still work to power the speaker system? Thanks for any insight you can lend me. Greg
  2. OK here is what I figure is going on. 6th ave is a authorized audio and navigation dealer in it's brick and mortor stores in New Jersey. It is not however authorized to sell car or Nav products online via it's online division. Most likely they would dummey up a recipt from the Brick and Mortor store if you had a warrentee issue. One would hope, but who knows. IMO they are not an authorized online dealer for car or nav prducts. Greg
  3. The camara is the unknown. Time should be about 4-5 hours for everthing excluding the camera. The amount of time would be dependant on the type of car of truck and the location and type of camera. The time of installs will also decrease with shops that put in a good number of NAV systems. Go with a shop that sells NAV systems and regualy installs them. They will be able to cut the time down dramaticly if they do it on a regular basis as they will know and understand where to find speed pulse and rev wires. Greg
  4. Well there might be a catch with 6th ave. If you look at what there are autorized to sell online, car equipment is not listed. Others have car systems listed as allowed. 6th ave Plasma: PDP-6100HD, PDP-5060HD, PDP-4360HD, PDP-5070HD, PDP-4270HD Pioneer Home Entertainment Products
  5. I think you are on the right track. I certainly can see disabling the DVD function while moving, but the phone functions and the nav fucntions are what I bought the unit for. There are laws in most states not alowoing DVD to be viewed from the drivers seat. there are no laws on using navigation and as far as the phone goes, here in New York you need to use the hands free. If I used the Z1 without a bypass, Pioneer would be forcing me to break the law by picing up my cell phone to access the phonebook rather than useing the one on the bypassed Z1..... If the Z1 only bypassed the DVD I woul
  6. There is only one software version for the Z1 so everyone is on the same page. I don't think the problems is with pioneer, but rather with tele atlas the mapping software that pioneer uses.
  7. I have a honda ridgeline and I belive that the factory systems are comparable. The sub in my ridgeline did not have it's own amp. Where you instraler may be getting confused is that some vehicals have an amp'ed sub so all that is nessesary is a harness to make the sub work. That is not the case in the Pilot. You would need as previously stated to buy a small cheap amp to power the sub. As far as the speakers go you can fun the factory speakers without replacing them. Your instaler will use a harness to conect them up. If you wnat better sound and have an extra $300 or so $, you could ha
  8. If I have programed in a destination, my Z1 will tell me what street I will need to turn on next. Greg
  9. Run, Run very fast. I would not buy one on e-bay. I got mine from Tundra electronics, thier price was great and shipping was the same day. Unlike some other retailers they won't tell you they got it and take your $$ and then tell you some story that it has to come from the warehouse (6th ave). Greg
  10. I've got one in my ridge also. No problem at all. Get the double din kit and the wiring harness. You can also keep your rear sub if you have one by attaching an inexpensive low power amp. My amp acutual fit up in the dash behind the radio and gives acceptable sound untill I build a new one. The steering wheel controls are the most dificult part IMO. Greg
