  1. allsounds (or anyone that has completed downloading and upgraded... ) Can you confirm that its ONLY map data, no update at all, (did anything seem different on the menus/display, version number, etc). I'm assuming all the Bypasses still work, etc... Its still great news having a map update, but man I was hoping they would fix some stuff. As others have mentioned, thanks to infinkc and allsounds for giving us all our ...ahh.. backups, ya that's the ticket,... backups, me and my wife, ... Morgan Fairchild... appreicate it, ...(ya I know, its super OLD!)
  2. I've actually talked about this before but might have new info... This is the discussion before that mentions the VSS is in the ECU cluster on pin 66, (something I wasn't good enough to get too)... http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... &start=135 But while researching some more, I looked at the pre-ODB1 diagnostic port and it says that the speed sensor is on pin 11, (this is really easy to get to!) Can anyone confirm that pin 11 will work, (as in has anyone successfully tried it)? http://www.stealth316.com/2-diagconn.htm
  3. Now that the 3G is out and some people are mentioning they have them, can anyone test the original question. Besides the 'transfer' button on the D3 which I'm pretty sure will NOT work, is there any new options in contacts for pushing via bluetooth? (waiting for the dev-team to release the new Pwnage)
  4. * Route a destination * From the menu select "Destination" * Click "Route Function" at the bottom * On the next screen, select "Itinerary" * Select one of the items on the itinerary (Did you know you can select them? I didn't!... Shocked) * Select "Avoid" at the bottom right Wow! Thats a lot to do while driving! Can you setup a shortcut to it (kinda like on the D3?) when you just hit the map screen and it bring up a button to go down into itinerary, (and you can hit avoid at that point)? Thanks for the info BTW... I think I won't get this unit at this poin
  5. Just to clarify, (reading my post where I say "its says something like" might have caused some confusion).... On the D3 it bring up the 'shortcuts' menu and one of them gives you the option to route around your current spot. A couple of pictures are worth a thousand words... So, has this feature really been removed from all the F Series?
  6. On the D3 you can hit the screen and it says something like calculate a radius detour from this point, (with a list of ranges). I find this to be the most useful option for myself. My wife just got a Explorer with Sync and its Navigation does NOT have it and I'm surprised since it seems like such an obvious feature. So I just want to make sure the F series still has it. Can you do it via voice commands, (like "calculate 1km detour" ??)
  7. Anyone running a beta of firmware 2.0 (perferably beta 7) and know if any phonebook transfers to the Avic work now? There was talk that some small level of vcard Bluetooth transfer was added, but I've not seen further mention of it so am a little doubtful? Would be nice to get a yes/no either way? (I haven't take the beta plunge yet myself)
  8. In the manual it kinda implies its an "address book" for GPS locations, I was wondering if it might also be phone book as well? Did the 80-90 series even have phone support? (if not, that pretty much rules out any chance of phone support) for the file I guess.
  9. Its not related to backgrounds, that is in a separate menu and everything... Looking in the manual it talks about it on page 56, as "Address Book data", from the POINT directory, but its lite on details, which is why I'm asking if anyone actually knows what it is, its format, has used it etc....
  10. I figure this has probably been discussed, but I couldn't find anything in searching, the words "read from disc" are used in a LOT of topics Anyways, I thought initially is might be for the backgrounds but even when putting my background CD in and hitting 'read from disc' button, I get the error about there being no data. My backgrounds work fine, this isn't a background question, its more about what DATA could be read, whats its format, etc? Is it possible to store settings in some data file and you could read anytime you happen to lose power?
  11. It's not hitting the 'Shuffle All' because I'm always on the MAP screen, but the corrupt or problematic mp3 is an interesting idea! That being said, I have an newer 30Gig Video that I was not using either so I have put it in the car and so far, its not done the problem, but I will watch out for what song is playing to see if that could be it??? Thanks for the ideas.
  12. Sorry if this has been asked, but I'm hitting a weird problem with my D3 running to a 20gig iPod, (the old style no photo/video, etc) Basically I have 1 playlist, and when I pick it, everything is fine, but after a while, (and I mean it could be DAYS), I will hear a song that is NOT in the playlist and when I check, sure enough the iPod it now playing ALL SONGS and not the playlist anymore? Initially I thought it might jump to it once the playlist was complete, but that is not the case because there was a time where it had played about 40 songs only before I heard a song out of the pla
  13. Actually, I'm fairly certain my above idea would work. If you look at your phone identifier on the D3 it is the Bluetooth MAC of the iPhone. So all we need to do is spoof either a WM's Bluetoth MAC that has transfered its book, or get the iPhone Bluetooth MAC to match the WM device. Whichever is easier/do-able The question is how, changing the MAC on a NIC is usually pretty easy, but a Bluetooth one I have never heard of. If we figure that out we would have phonebook transfer, (well at least those with access to a WM phone). I guess any phone that someone can change the mac on
  14. It makes sense that syncing the contacts from another phone would NOT work, since the D3 manual and the BTB200 manual talk about how there are seperate phone books for each phone id. Can anyone actually confirm this has worked? tdhn: Are you sure this worked? With your iPhone accessing your other phones address book? I was thinking of trying this myself; I was thinking the phone identifer was maybe the SIM card ID so that swapping sims would work, but it actually looks like its the bluetooth MAC? Does anyone know if you can change the MAC of the bluetooth device in the regis
  15. For mute, what I do is hit the select button twice (rapidly), this moves the D3 from MAP (where I have it normally) to BT-Phone which cuts off the sound. I know its not an 'ideal' solution but it works pretty well actually. From that point, 3 taps takes me back to iPod, so it starts playing again, (once you know the taps for your system and train yourself on it, it becomes 2nd nature).
  16. Well, I hope it works but that sounds like crap. My filler is only 3 megs, and is an install of some program, (not a pdf or word doc). PICTURES would have to be capitals in an ISO format (so the rest lowercase is crap)... The best file size dimensions seems to be 480x234 but 1440x680 ratio is close so its probably just resizing.
  17. I have definitely done this, I've replaced all three pictures. Your steps seem right, make a directory called PICTURES in the root of the disc. Maybe make sure that the disk is standard ISO and not something like UDF. Also, make sure the pictures are 8.3 characters format, but it really should have worked. I used a CD-RW but maybe you should try different media, (like a + or - disc), depending one which is not working. To make sure I had enough data on the disk I just took some random file that was 3megs big and stuck it in the root directory. It is supposed to be PICTURES
  18. Unrelated to your problem (sorry), but can you use the 70M discs with the D3? I thought the 70M were only for the Z series devices?
  19. I think you meant, if you leave it on the iPod/music source you will still get the prompts and it will automatically switch to the map at turns... (which it will)
  20. 1} Kinda of. If you are using an iPod, when it switches to a new song, it will show the artist name and song on the bottom of the screen (overlayed over the map) for about 2-3 seconds. After that you can only see if by switching modes. 2} There is no voice-recognition for the device. If your phone supports voice dialing it can apparently use that, but I think its the Z units that have voice command.
  21. Well thats good to know, (I guess), I wonder if they will ever do one? Thanks for the info,
  22. My system came with 02/2007 maps? Are these the newest? I've seen people talk about the 60M and 70M discs but that is for the AVIC-Z's right? I'm assuming they are not compatible... Also, how would you tell if you have the newest firmware?
  23. Just noticed this on Hackintosh, I wonder if we can get the D3 to work this way? http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthr ... ooth+audio
  24. I was thinking the same thing, (to use another phone to push its phonebook) and get the iPhone to access that phonebook, but I'm guessing that the phonebook is locked to an individual phone id. I guess it kinda makes sense, and is kinda dumb. There is definitely scenario's where you might want to access another registered phonebook. Like your work phone and your iPhone, and you don't have your work phone on you, but need to call a client in your work phones phone book. So is it confirmed you can't do it that way?
  25. (Ya, this is an old topic I know...) I have a Stealth TT, and the stock faceplate is a pretty good fit, (a little bit of a gap, but not to bad at all). But I was wondering, with so many DSM people has anyone done a nice Dodge Stealth Splash screen? I've kinda started one, but the realization that I have no artistic talent is really starting to set in (pictures and font from the 93 Brochure)
