CALLING DUCATI BOY

Try posting in the Z1 forum .. this is the D1 forum!
3. There is no cheap/easy solution that is from Pioneer that integrates nicely, sadly. They are all costly options , unless you scored a nice used system off eBay. And as whtcrxghst said, a video game system like a PS2 can be used too and is a low-cost option, usually offering a remote, and doubles for games too obviously!
4. I went from v1.0 to v1.2 then finally to the 60-series CD set ... and aside from just points of interest, there are additional firmware updates. For example, instead of just saying "stay left, onto I-90" it will now say "EAST" or "WEST" after that ... giving you even more data! Its not worth spending the cash new IMO .. but worth an ebay purchase!
5. You can hook up any outboard source to the D1 thru the A/V inputs, however if you want the head unit to be able to control the DVD player it MUST be a Pioneer unit. If you are willing to go with a different manufacturer, you'll need a remote control or some other fashion to control the DVD player (pause/play/etc). In many cases you can do this with a small eye (IR) somewhere hidden on the dash and a remote control. Here is what I did... 6. Hmmm ... nahh it should work. The only thing I can think of is that you are not getting all the satellite reception necessary to determine your direction or something. Time to call Pioneer maybe ... wish i could help more, sorry.
7. Since a local shop did my install I cant speak 100% in actual terms ... but I know that my antenna is situated where the cable exists the black square towards the front of the vehicle, could that be an issue? Secondly... when on the map screen, if you "click" (press the screen) in the lower-right corners where the compass icon is (the diamond with the red tip) it will swap views ... click it once and NORTH is always UP .. click it again and no matter which way NORTH is, up is always the way you are heading. That might be a solution/issue too... g'luck!

Rear view camera

Just like SilverGS wrote -- its awesome! I've got a 2004 VW Touareg and in 06 they added a rear camera option, so I bought the hardware from the factory (the camera/mount). Then using the D1 was able to implement it into my system. Its very helpful when backing up (it goes into cam mode in reverse as noted above).. but also when you just want to see whats behind you even in forward motion you can select it. Worth every penny, esp for an SUV.
9. Turn the head unit OFF (hold down source button, so that on the A/V screen it shows OFF in the top left corner). Once that is the case, push IN on the "special" round silver button in lower-left corner. That takes you into the settings/menu list ... and in there you will see a menu to press that says INITIAL ... and in there you'll see the Guidance options as noted in your post above. Good luck!
10.
If you register with pioneer online, and then call their parts department, they will send you the discs for free.
Actually that is not correct. If you have v1.0 discs (2005 copies) they will sent you v1.2 discs (2005 copies) for no charge. But the firmware update in the 60-series discs cost money ($250 off Pioneer's site IIRC)... but you can find burned copies for
11.
hi I just purchased a new avic d1 and its great, but I am having trouble with the navigation. The voice that talks sometimes goes on and off and the directions it gives me are totally wierd it constantly tells me to make a u-turn and on the free way it says make a u-turn. Could someone help me play around with this maybe Im doing something wrong. Thnx
If you hear the voice giving you directions and in the middle of talking it stops, then look at the screen. If the little green bar on the lower left corner pops up that its recalculating the route, then it p
12. I live in Cleveland and have copies of the 60 discs I bought for just under $30 off eBay ... that would be my suggestion. But if you really wanted to copy my discs, drive to Cleveland and I can meet ya somewhere here to copy them. They are working fine on my D1 .. cheers.
13. You would have to switch the AVIC to A/V to watch the video ... in which case you'd need the audio to also come thru the A/V. But if you are currently usng an FM modulator, are there RCA wires from the DVD player going into the modulator? Why not just run those RCA wires direct to the D1? That makes more sense and is better audio quality anyhow. Get rid of the modulator all together...
14. So that file replaces the same-name file currently on the NAV DVD? That DAT file contains both the data AND the images then?
15. Those are awesome ... I would love to have a Volkswagen one ... a white Touareg SUV would be great, but just in general a Volkswagen one would be so nice. And once you load the CD with the image into the D1 you can get away with putting the orig NAV disc back in and still use that image, right? :) It would be cool to have a startup image too ... i envy you guys who know how to make these images that work, etc ... i could figure out the CD burn, its the images i am no good at..
16.
The 60 disks are one year newer, so as you might have guessed, they have made upgrades to the mapping in that year (more of the country is covered.) They also added lane information in certain cities and more cities now have detailed metro mapping.
Thats really odd that they would charge $250 for that and yet give the v1.2 NAV discs out for free. Yes I realize they need to cover the costs for the extra work that went into the new maps, but at the same time, that is what they are doing selling the D3/N3/Z1 units. I've found a few guys on eBay selling
17. Keep us posted Derek .. cant wait to fix this. Would be nice to have it fixed before my 6,000 mile road trip to California in July... :)

V1.3? D1

I got my v1.2 discs just a week ago ... when I called I did specifically ask for v1.2 but also asked if it was the latest version. Bimbo on the other line confirmed, but lets face it .. she wasnt "skilled" in anything .. :)
19. Okay so I found out my shop doesnt have the CDs in stock, and of course they retail for $250 new ... but I am a bit unclear. I decided to call Pioneer tech support and spoke to a girl who didnt see the brightest.. From what she told me, the only changes were to the e-brake / video in motion. Otherwise, my v1.2 NAV discs have the same map updates and changes. When I put my v1.2 NAV discs in, there were 2 updates installed. She did NOT indicate any other AVIC-D2 changes would occur if I got the $250 DVD set ... can anyone verify this? I cant justify spending $250 for nothing... is i
20.
Those are the disks that come in the D2 and N3. You can purchase them from Pioneer. Or there are usually quite a few on ebay, real and copies
So if my local shop has any D2 or N3 units they might have the CDs and I could just borrow a copy for install purposes, right?! I have the new Nav1.2 discs .. those do NOT upgrade the same stuff, do they? I know they did some updates, but the updates you speak of are more powerful/different, correct?
21.
Yes, just purchase the CNDV60 disks
What are those and where do you get them?!
22. ^^^^^^^^^ still waiting for a reply to that ...
23.
Thats Correct.
One last set of questions then .... let me lay out this scenario ... and tell me if you think its best, and so forth ... Ideally, I should .... #1 - Procure v1.2 NAV DVD #2 - Make an ISO/copy onto my HDD #3 - Update all the XM files, and maybe add some custom backgrounds #4 - Burn it out as a dual-layer DVD-R That way, I would have a permanent copy of the latest NAV info, and also have my custom backgrounds and updated XM channel info for the moment. One shot, all set. Is this what is probably the best way to go about i
24. Am I correct in assuming that the only way to fix this would be via a modded DVD? Those logos are NOT stored in the HU, but rather on the DVD itself essentially, correct? Right now I have nav discs v1.0 and plan to call to get v1.2 immediately. Obviously I can burn a single-layer DVD-R/RW to make custom opening screens and background screens ... but ... If you want to "fix" the XM logos, am I reading this correct that you must create an ISO/copy of your NAV DVD, with the fixed DAT file / Images, and ALWAYS have that DVD in to correctly show the new logos?
