1. I take it the car has the factory infinity system? If it does, you'll have to run new speaker wire from the deck to the amp location. Also there is no switched power in the harness, so you'll have to run one from either the fuse box, or you can pick it up at the cig plug. That is if your cig plug loses power when you turn the car off. As for finding the vss in you car I'm not sure on that one since I've not done any sort of navi in a magnum.
2.

It breaks down to a little more than 20 a year.
Actually it breaks down to $41 per year but still not that bad.
And that is why I just work on cars and not do anything that requires more complex math then adding or subtracting numbers less than 10. In other words I'm dumb.
3. Based on my experiences with the avic series, I'd say if you can spare the dough, go for it. It breaks down to a little more than 20 a year.

AVIC D2 bypass
Would you please describe the installation of the 528t pulse timer (connections, etc)? That sounds like exactly what I need! Since you suggest it requires a pulse timer, I assume that a straight grounding of the parking brake will not work? Have you confirmed that it will only work it the ground occurs AFTER boot of the system? THANKS!!!!!!
Yes, I initially just grounded the parking brake wire and occasionally I'd either get the error message or the video/navi would not show up. So here's how to wire up the 528t. Red goes to Constant 12v. Bla

You don't have to disconnect the speed sense wire to view video or work the navi while moving if you ground the empty pin in the harness. The only thing you have to do is ground the parking brake wire after the d1/d2 is booted. I justed used a 528t pulse timer set for a 15 second delay. Has worked fine on both my d1 and my buddy's d2 without fail.
6. What's the year, make and model of the vehicle?
7. I know it's not a z1, but that thing wasn't available when I got the d1 so here's mine. It's an older pic of my d1 in my 03 Galant. I'm redoing the dash though, since I'm going to put an alpine cda9855 where the ac controls are in the pic. 8. is the unit brand new? If it hasn't been in the car long it hasn't really learned how the vehicle works yet. There's also an option to change the speed values for the road types. It may be over estimating the time it takes to go the route because of these values. Just try following what it sayss see what happens.
9. To add my .02 the vss wire is not under normal circumstances pinned in an aftermarket harness. The best bet as far as testing for the vss wire is to grab a meter set it to ac voltage. Ground the negative probe and probe your suspect wire. put the car in drive and watch the reading. It should fluctuate with vehicle speed.
10.
I'm trying to decide what I want, is there a forum for the Kenwood DDX-series, i.e. DDX6019? I'm really curious how their iPod interface works, but don't really want to drop the $800+ unless the iPod interface is pretty decent.
NO kenwood's ipod interface actually gives pioneer a run for it's money as far as who's got the worst interface.
11. Me personally I like the sound of the alpine type r components but that's just me. Those speakers aren't bad, not great at the highs and not great at the bass end. Just kinda in the middle there.
12. did you ever get this fixed? Might be able to help you out if not. Let me know.
13. Might be able to help you out with this one. I'll need to check on some stuff at work tomorrow and let ya know. By the way how you like the z1?
