  2. Things have changed a bit.

Well damn disappear for a few years and everything's gone and changed. I'm not even the king postwhore anymore... Guess I should apologize to the 100 odd pms I never replied to. Oh well such is life. Just figured I'd stop in and say hi. Still rocking my D1. And for anyone that might remember yes I finished the dash bezel. No I don't have pics since my cars been sitting in the shop for the last month while I've been rebuilding the head. Damn timing belt shredded 20k miles early and took out 4 valves. Hey its been a learning experience. Never been that deep into a motor before. Good practice though since I'm starting school at the end of June to be a mechanic. Oh almost forgot my wife had a baby last June. Samantha and I have to say a rugrat just makes all of the stupid day to day shit just melt away when she smiles. Oh well off to work. I'll try and get back to forum trolling a bit more often.
  3. THE LAST D3 BYPASS THREAD

Ok there's 3 stickies on how to do it Plenty of pictures, plenty of explination in them. Here it is 1 last time. With a pick or razor blade, lift the white tab on the rca harness where the mute wire is. Pull mute wire out of harness. Rotate mute wire 180 degrees. HINT: Look at it, you'll see a metal tab. That tab is what locks the pin into the harness. Insert mute wire into hole above the hole you removed it from. Making sure that the metal tab fully seats. You will feel a click. Connect the mute wire AND the parking break (for you jimmy303) wire to the BLACK ground wire. Connect the end of that black ground wire to, here's another hint, the ground wire in your aftermarket car radio harness. If your car radio harness does not have a ground wire in it (older chryslers, nissans for example). Then you must conect the black wire from the avic to STEEL behind the dash. No you do not lose any functionality of the CD-BTB200's ability to mute the radio. No hooking the vss wire up does NOT affect this bypass. Any new topics about this, I will either delete or lock. Oh yeah, if you want pics see one of the other 3 stickies.
  4. Amps not turning on. Need help!

Do the amps turn off when you shut the car off. IF they do, then your fine the blue/white wire of the d1 outputs even when the radio is turned off so the amps will still work for voice nav.
  5. Amps not turning on. Need help!

sounds like a wiring issue. If you have a meter check to make sure your getting a good bround and power at the battery terminal of the amp and remote lead.
  6. D1 ---- iPod touch ---- no Video

shold be working. I have the same setup with my d1 and my 80gb classic. Make sure tv out is enabled on the ipod.
  7. Couple quick HU install question 06 F150

illumination wire can be hooked up to the dimmer wire. The orange/black negative dimmer doesn't get used. Tape it up. Don't ground it. No need to hook up reverse if you're not going to use a backup camera.
  8. Ok so to try and help a little more. I'm going to start posting pictures of where I get the vss wire in cars that I work on. I will do my best to keep this post updated. I'm going to post the pics on www.imageshack to try and keep the bandwidth used here to a minimum. I'm taking these pics with my cell phone so they're not the greatest in the world, but they'll give you a good idea of where to go. Most fords 1998-2004 http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/9702/fordvssli7.jpg There should be a gray/black wire in the harness pictured. Fords 2004-up http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/1404 ... vssyb9.jpg If your harness looks this one then the vss should be gray/black. I know the pic sucks but I was in a crunch. With the harness oriented like the picture the vss will be in the lower group of wires. 2001-2005 Honda Civic http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/6727/civicvsshx2.jpg This is the cruise control module. There'll be a blue/white wire there. merry xmas?
  9. So I get a couple pms a week asking me what I mean when I post up the wiring info for a car. So rather than have to explain myself each time I thought I'd make this post which will hopefully explain what it is when either myself or one of the other people on the forum replies with an answer for wire codes. We'll take the following as an example. The wiring for a 2003 Mitsu Galant Reverse Light red/blue + pin 9, 43 pin plug in DKP Speed Sense yellow/black data link conn., R of column the first thing is obviously what the wire is, reverse signal and speed signal. The Second is the color. This is where some people get confused. The first color list is the color of the majority of the wire. The second color is the color of the stripe on the wire. Not all will have a stripe. So in the case of the reverse light it's a red wire with a blue stripe on it. And the speed sense will be yellow with a black stripe. The final item is the location. Most of the time I try and write out the abbreviations, but sometimes I forget. So I'll list here the abbreviations I can think of and if anyone comes up with some I missed let me know I'll add them DKP = Driver's kick panel (generally behind the area by your left foot if you were sitting in the driver's seat) PKP = Passenger's kick panel ( same as above but right foot sitting in the passenger's seat. DLC = data link connector aka diagnostics plug aka obd2 plug GEM = Generic Electronics module. The computer in fords that controls convience items like door locks and such BCM = Body Control Module ECM = Engine Control Module ECU = Engine Control Unit ETACS ECU = Electronic Timing and Control System PCM = Powertrain control Module Harness to rear = Lift up the carpet on whichever side of the car it says, and you should seee a large bundle of wires that looks to run from the front of the car to the back. that's all for now. Also if you're looking for wiring info, type in the model, make, and the words "merry xmas" the majority of my posts with wiring info will have those 2 words at the end to help locate. All in all have fun and happy installing. Josh
  10. R.I.P. Roadshop 1/16/09

To the 30000+ that are going to lose their jobs, best of luck. It was a pretty good run.
  11. 2008 Dodge Caravan Steering wheel controls

SWI-PS and and SWI-CAN2. Instructions are listed as a Grand Caravan.
  12. Cycle radio presets with steering controls?

completely forgot to ask but does the swi-ps work with this unit? Yep
  13. Sirius stuck on 205

    is it activated yet?
  14. Why Is my D3 ALWAYS On

where did you wire the red wire? it sounds like its coming in contact with the yellow wire or another constant power source...make sure its wired to the accessory wire on the OEM harness The red wire is connected to the red wire on the gmos-04 harness.. Is it supposed to be connected to the stock harness? Got a bad interface then. There is no accessory in new gms that's the other reason why you need the interface.
  15. www.bcae1.com That'll give you the basics.
  16. dimmer voltage incompatibilities?

The d3 has selectable polarity for the reverse camera input, no the illumination.
  17. Navigavtion acting weird on D3.

No the excessive vibration warning comes up when the radio is too loose in the mounting kit. Or in the rare occacsion that the motor shakes the car too violently. I go with option 1 though in a new rustang.
  18. ipod and sirius hook up.

Both must be powered. You can daisy chain the power together though.
  19. GPS & Tint

What type of car? How strong is the signal? FULL signal like I said. 8 sats locked and 3 bars. and the cars an 03 galant.
  20. Sounds like you have the ipbus cable in the wrong port for those sources. Try swapping them.
  21. 06 Dodge Ram SWC ???

Do you have an SWI-CAN as well? If not, then there's your problem. You need that piece to hook up to the 2 wires they list. Then the green wire of the SWI-PS gets connected to the SWI-CAN.
  22. :( PAC SWI-PS ON 06 SCION TC

http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogrammin ... les&ID=357 Can't get any more detailed than that.
  23. GPS & Tint

5% tint covering the back glass of my car and I get full signal. And yes it is metalized film.
  24. I must say overall the changes to the gui are welcome. Being able to search the ipod by letter is great. Took long enough for that one. Not a problem stinking up 3 different bt phones. My only question to you guys is there a connection status screen anymore. Couldn't find one and kinda ran out of time to play with it.
  25. Installed my fist f90bt today
