I noticed this same thing, i download a three hour podcast of a radio show, and it sucks having to skip thru it in 5 second increments, since that is how fast you can fast forward with the SD card. I had to break the file up into smaller 2 minute bites using a free MP3 splitter program.

Question on this, does it act like turning the master volume all the way down or turn off the prompts only. Here's why I ask that, when you just mute the master volume, the unit will still initiate a prompt, even when muted, and it will creat a quick dip in the music when that happens. So if you're city driving with a route up, your music will continually cut out to allow for the muted prompts to initiate. Any of that with this code?

It's ok except that if you push the touchscreen with an upward motion, the entire box slide up a quarter of an inch. But you'd never know just by the look of the outside. I'll look into other kits for the Mazda Tribute, I think they'd be identical with your SUV.

Quick question for you, i have a Mazda Tribute which is very similar, is your HU secured into the dash? And if so, how? I just realized after I got my radio installed by Circuit City that it literally just slides in and out with nothing holding it in. I wanted to see if maybe you had a different install kit or if you had the same issue.

Look on the bright side of this guys, it's practically impossible to steal!!!! On mention of that, i found out that my radio, installed by circuit city, can simply slide in and out of my dash without having to remove a thing. Is there something I can do to secure it a little more so that someone will need at least minute if they wanted to steal it? I guess just for piece of mind?

I love my radio, the start up time isn't bad, same thing about 5-10 seconds for fm/am radio, 20-30 for ipod, and about 20 for touch screen recognition. To me, it's a computer, it needs the same amount on time. Glad you like yours though, cause by the sound of things around here, we're going to have a lot of toys really soon with leetcoder around...

try turning off the master volume, it's great, i can set a route an no longer have the prompts.... i love it!

Does it power off the USB though or did you have to get an adapter?

At the expense of my own humility, I post a followup to what has happened. That stupid switch on my SD car was on the wrong side. To my defense, there is no labeling on the card saying which way is locked or unlocked. Sorry for wasting time and posts here.... DOH!!!!!

I was in the same boat, jumped on the 900bt (basically the same as the 90) and couldn't be happier. For me it came down to the GUI just being nicer then the Kenwoods. But they both have their pro's and cons. Start up time on the Avic is long, unless your on Am or Fm, so it's not that bad for me. But the best thing to do is find a place with both on display. For me here in So Cal, Frys in Burbank had them both working, I literally spent two hours in front of both of them figuring out which one I liked more.

Yea I have, tried downloading a folder to the SD, and then just the phone book to it. Both times getting the same error.

Is your antenna on the inside or outside of the car? And how long did you leave the unit onto activate? I don't have the module in my car but I remember my XM radio needing almost 30 min. to activate.

No that's what i figured as well, The card is empty except for the test mode files. and i don't have any other SD cards on me. But I have tried to copy multiple files to the SD card, mainly to backup, and have yet to be able to.

Hey all, I really did try to search for this before I asked it, and I hope that this hasn't been talked about yet, but here's my situation. I have a 1gig SanDisk SD card that I have tried formatting in both Fat and Fat32 formats. I can get into the windows mode just fine, but when I try to copy files from My Flash Disk to the SD card, I get Error Code 19 errors. Anyone see this before?

I've got this same problem, everything else is at a perfect level, but man when a call comes in that ringer blows me away....

i know it's not the same, but for satellite radio, have the receiver on the outside was a huge improvement over having it on the dash. That being said though, mine is on the dash and it's not that big of a deal, the "dot" on my screen is only about a second behind me.
