  1. by no means was i trying to single anyone out. i think we just have a difference in opinion. i am a sound editor / recordist. i have what i would consider a large investment in microphones, others would say small. in fact sitting in front me as i write this there are two MKH 80 and a MKH 800. the 80's when introduced were around $8k each and the 800's were $6k. i paid pretty close near those prices and i am very humbled to be able to own such mics. those are just a few of the mics i own. a decent recording studio would have a lot more as you know. but its really about the tools we pick to do t
  2. this is a forum to help people out. if someone is wrong i will surely let them know if have some knowledge in that related field (it just so happens i do). do you really think my comments are " malicious ". please help me understand why you think that way. there are strong options everywhere in life. there is nothing condescending about that and I'm sorry you feel that way. and yes i think most of Pioneer are not great and it totally show when you consider how they treat their customers and run their company. What i do like are their navi units. i have always been a fan of them.
  3. The AT822 is a stereo XY which always uses a pair card or hyper card. when you cal something you need to cal from a single point omni mic because they don't have any proximity effect and reproduce freq content accurately in any give space. I don't know if you ever have looked at freq curves for mics. i don't know anyone would consider AT822 flat or almost http://www.microphone-data.com/microphones/at822/!!! it is also not very sensitive and has a very low output. I think you have a misconception of what a "high end receiver" is. There is just no such thing. when i here high end r
  4. https://www.dropbox.com/s/i6lmfrj5xm6gvwd/Photo%20May%2027%2C%204%2040%2056%20PM.jpg i have that exact setup in my Subaru Outback. it is very nice. i first thought i would get the 8000 but i wanted to save a few bucks and thought the 110bt display in our Forester wasn't bad. There could be improvements but i was happy with it. All that being said i think the 8000 is a little faster to respond because of the screen. Although women really don't notice those kind of details (At least the women i know). does it look pretty and does it work. that is all they care about. off subject: o
  5. I'm pretty confident in my ears. auto eq'ing doesn't really make sense to me personally. in music and audio post no one auto eq's anything in this application! i can see using the mic for time alignment but it would take me less time setting the eq on my own then to plug in a mic and press a button. there are a number of listening standards music and post studios use. pretty easy to do the same thing in a car.
  6. interesting argument but do you realize Pioneer may have calibrated their auto EQ software to match the curve of the CD-MC20? The reason you don't use "cardiod" is that it suffers from proximity effect. in a small space proximity effect becomes more pronounced. Omnidirectional mics do not suffer from proximity effect. TRS = Balanced TR = Unbalanced which is fine because its a interconnect length.
  7. why do you want to do surround in your car? either way it is most likely down mixing to LtRt aka stereo
  8. blah blah blah... whens the release date!
  9. my 7000 is a nice step from the 110 unit i had in my Forester. The 8000 is even nicer tho!
  10. use your ears. there is no auto EQ'ing in any music production. The space inside a car is pretty easy to eq. pick a song that you listen to a lot and use that as reference. i think what a common listener mistake is to add bass. just don't make that mistake and you'll be fine
  11. so i installed a 7000nex a few days ago. setting up the BT was painless. after the next start up i had a issue with the auto connect. went to the BT menu and toggled on and off my device (iPhone 5) and haven't had a issue since. I would make sure your phone isn't in your pocket while doing this.
  12. if powering is a issue i would advise against using a external HDD or SSD. under powering a device can cause poor performance and tons of errors which may lead to corrupting directories.
  13. Just leave your car on, problem solved. your really not wasting a ton of gas while in idle. Although you do have a WRX i suspect you want to get to wasting gas a quickly as possible (fun car to drive)!

    AVICSync app

really? well Toyota is a cheap company and most car makers who do add these services charge because they require a dedicated data connection inside the car. so i really don't think we will have to pay anything but if you have a link i would love to see it because there isn't much out there on the AVICSYNC app.
  15. i work as a sound editor and there is a GC down the street from me. The place is a nightmare and they are idiots! every time it need something in a pinch i roll down to GC to listen to the village idiot tell me i should be doing it a different way or that their mic selection is better then any other local shops. although i have purchased a few things from them because i had to. i would rather shop online and not deal with anyone!
  16. first mistake you went to GC! your GPS was giving you a hint!
  17. the link you posted is from a seller who declined all my offers which they are below my last offer now. I sent them a message and got no response. that is usually a sign of a bad seller. you can pm me if you don't want to post a public link.
  18. $920 for a 8000nex, from who? i made a bunch of offers which were declined by a seller who is not selling below those. i have no offers left pretty annoying
  19. so i made a offer on eBay on a 8000 and the seller sent me this message " I will respond to your offer, just so you know, a good majority of these units for sale are altered in undesirable ways to prevent tracking of the units origin among other reasons, Our units are 100% authentic brand new in unaltered condition. Thank you " i did a search and couldn't confirm this happens. i decided this a great place to ask if anyone has heard of this?

    AVICSync app

to me Pioneer needs to get their stuff together. Why they would release these decks with a wealth of features that are not working (idatalink, AvicSync, etc). they are just rolling themselves into the area of class-action.
  21. not exactly true. Check and see if the people your purchasing from has a store front. Some times sellers will include a traditional invoice in the package making it easy to interact with the manufacturer.
  22. Capacative touch displays have a faster response time then resistive. maybe the Capacative assemblies also have newer faster comm components as well. I'm not exactly sure. i think finger prints are worse resistive displays. Thanks for everyones input. ill be purchasing a 8000nex soon!
  23. so i have been watching the 8000nex unit on ebay the last week or so and have notice there is kind of a price war going on. each day in the last week the lowest price dropped a decent amount. yesterday the lowest BIN price being $1049 and now $1039!
  24. i know the specs say the only difference is capacitive in the 8000nex. I wanted to ask owners of either unit if it is the 8000nex worth the extra cash? Thanks!
