  1. My honest opinion is that MSN direct is not worth the money. I am in DC and The traffic is very rarely correct and thus it is not very useful when trying to determine which route to take. my opinion is to save the money and go without it.
  2. My mistake. The X series allows you to do this but apparently the Z does not.
  3. Probably just a coincidence but as of this week I am not getting any MSN Direct signal. The signal strength indicator is all grayed out, says "Connecting to MSN Direct" when I try to check the status, and when I go into the hidden screen to check detail information everything is blank. Am I alone with this?
  4. yup, that solved the problem. sorry for overlooking that suggestion the first time you mentioned it!
  5. checked the battery situation and it seems to be operating normally. battery is not depleting. no one else seeing this problem?
  6. if you hit the info button on the map screen it will show you the address of your current location, including the city you are in.
  7. Sometimes playing around with the time zones and auto correct will give you the right time but after a couple weeks it may switch again. it seems as though the software doesnt realize that day light savings ended this weekend but it SHOULD recognize the change in the next few weeks. this was an error that pioneer corrected but if you do not have the new software you will still experience the bug.
  8. 1) the biggest downside of the pioneer navs is the slow boot-up. after about 60-90 seconds it should be mostly loaded and should not lag as much. 2)go to MENU, SETTINGS, SYSTEM SETTINGS, REGIONAL SETTINGS, and then choose the Samantha (TTS) options of the voice settings. if the voice you choose does not have "TTS" next to it, it will not pronounce the street names. 3) this is most likely bad map data from TeleAtlas, not Pioneer's fault. i had the same issue with i270, and i395 here in the DC area. they seem to have fixed these roads in v. 3.0 but I would not be surprised if there are o
  9. the multi-function key is the black knob on the left of your unit. rotate it to control volume. press left and right to change song/radio station, press up and down on map screen to zoom in and out, and press straight in to active voice commands. the voice commands will not activate unless you are on the map screen or a source screen (radio, cd, ipod...etc..). if you are on a menu screen or setting screen pressing in on the knob will not do anything. also, the voice command software is pretty much the last thing to load when the unit turns on so it does take a couple minutes before you
  10. i never use the SD card but I have read posts from people who are using 16gb and 32gb. although, it may vary from brand to brand of SD card. one brand's 32gb may work where another brand's 32gb will not. there is a post somewhere listing the size and brands of SD cards people are using.
  11. on the X series it is in the POI settings for the nav. probably the same for the Z.
  12. auto connect and auto answer are two different things. auto connect automatically connects to your phone's bluetooth when you turn on the car. auto answer automatically answers a phonecall when it comes in even without you pressing the "answer" or green button. what exactly are you trying to do?
  13. 1) no 2) you need to go into Settings, then AV Settings and tap AUX2 until is says "VIDEO". AUX2 will not be highlighted at the bottom of your source screen 3)i was told by pioneer that the current X910s are getting a software update before being shipped so 3.02 must be the that new software. right now only 3.01 is available on their website. 4) 4 that is normal. not sure why its like that but there is no way to fix it as far as i know 5) not totally sure but it could be that the volume adjustment on the GM adapter needs to be turned up since the door chime is typically louder than the tur
  14. X710BT does not play DVDs. only CDs. you need the X910BT if you want to play DVDs.
  15. one more suggestion... someone in the Z110BT troubleshootinf forum suggested resetting and re-syncing the ipod and that seemed to help the user with iPod VR problems. give it a shot.
  16. are you in the united states? analog TV tuners no longer work in the US.
  17. here is something else i figured out about the bluetooth... when you update the phonebook in your PHONE and want to tranfer it to the unit there are a series of steps you need to follow to make it work correctly. when you press the TRANSFER CONTACTS icon it will give you a message that says something like "ALL CURRENT ENTRIES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN. DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?" unfortunately even if you hit YES this will not overwrite the CONTACTS on the unit. it should, but it doesnt. so if you have taken all of the symbols and periods and apostropes out of your phone and then "OVERWRITE
  18. You could be right but I am just speaking from experience. We have installed more than 25 X910s in the last couple months and we installed countless F series last year. Of all of the complains we had about the VR, not a single one ended up being the VR software. every single one was user error or phonebook entry problems. most issues I saw were users with iPhones and it always ended up being the phonebook settings in the iPhone. as for the ipod, i do not have a reason why the ipod VR is not working for you. the only problems i have seen with ipod VR have ended up being user error or VR
  19. Is anyone else having this problem? When I am listening to my iPod when I get out of the car, when I get back IN the car the ipod will not automatically start playing. the ipod powers on, it says Pioneer on the screen and the nav recognized that the iPod is plugged in but I have to manually press play to get the ipod playing again. not only that, it always reverts back to the first song on the ipod. any suggestions as to what this might be? problem with the ipod?
  20. i dont think it has anything to do with your neighborhood. same thing happens to me and I am in wide opens areas outside of Washington DC. i think its just that the unit is taking an abnormally long time to link up with the satellites. could be due to the positon of the GPS antenna. right now mine is under the dash. i will move it and see if it helps.
  21. Well i can tell you that the VR in the F series and the VR in the X series are basically identical. the only difference as far as I know is that you have to wait an extra second or so on the X series after you here the chime before you start talking. i had an F series and then switched to an X. for the first few weeks I had my X I hated the VR because it never understood what I said. thankfully I found out that it was just that i started talking too early and it was only hearing part of what I said. after I discovered this it has been working perfectly for me for the last 4 months. don
  22. i cannt confirm this at all but according to what pkbristol says it sounds like that is the case. but again, i cannot say for sure or not. just going by his word.
  23. there are two solutions for you.... 1) instead of pressing the button with your finger tip, try using your thumb and pointer finger and sort of grab the knob on both sides and press in. this is what i have to do to avoid the problems you mentioned. 2) a member of this forum actually makes bigger knobs that fit over top of the factory knob and give you better usabiliy. check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=50&t=26014
  24. two things to keep in mind when trying to activate the voice commands: 1) the voice recognition software is about the last thing to load when the unit is powered on. if you press the knob before the software loads it will not do anything. make sure you wait about 2 mins before you try to use the voice commands. 2) you have to be on a source screen (AM, FM, ipod..etc..) or the map screen for it to work. if you are on a menu or a settings screen pressing the VR button will not do anything. also, when you do press the VR button and you hear the chime make sure you wait an extra sec
  25. Its still not dual zone. you would not be able to have the DVD playing in the back and have ipod playing in the front for example.
