  1. Speaking personally, I am sometimes intrigued by a heading like the one you have to your post; the kind that are so ambiguous and all-encompassing, that I click on them to see what the "problem" is. If others on this site are like me, that would explain the folks that have viewed this post and failed to "fix" it. In the future, I would suggest trying to be a little more specific in the title to avoid having people view it and not instantly solve your issue. Also, the fact that you have had your post up for all of 2 hours before you replied to yourself about the problem not being solved
  2. Yes, that is correct - you will need to connect both the USB and dock connections via either the Pioneer supplied cable or the Apple one others have purchased seperately to listen to music from the phone. (Edit: One thing to make sure of though, that your Bluetooth setting on the iPhone is turned on so that it is "discoverable" to the AVIC)
  3. I recently purchased an iPhone 3Gs model myself, and have connected it via Bluetooth successfully. No need to connect it to the F90 via the USB cable. Try a couple of times (if you haven't already) as I seem to remember it taking more than once, but I have indeed done it. Good luck! Cheers, Kev
  4. Well, I just went out and scrolled through a few dozen albums (even ones I KNEW had album art that was huge and extremely detailed) and they all looked the exact same degree of pixelation. William - what happens if you take the Ting Tings art you said looked bad from your iPhone and viewed it on the Nano model that these other decent looking images are on; is there a difference then? I'd be interested to try and narrow it down to just device, or if the art is somehow always crappy, when other may not be, no matter the device - let us know. (Edit: Also, as far as I can tell, the art
  5. Thanks William for taking the time to post images as well. This is the sort of problem that really gets my brain working - there HAS to be some explanation to this. Whether it's pixel count, or source file origination - something! There has to be a logical explanation as to why album art that all looks pretty much the same on an iPhone or iPod can look anywhere from the same to different shades of junk on the AVIC! I might go out and surf through a bunch of different album covers to see if there is any difference in them, but I've never noticed any that I can think of. I mean why woul
  6. The following shots I just went out and took a little while ago. I have the shots in the following order: 1. Super sweet album art as viwed on my Mac screen in iTunes (and viewed at approximately 6" square, so pretty big) 2. Sweet album art from cover flow view as seen on my iPhone 3Gs (approx. the same size as the 2 images to follow) 3. Terrible album art (this is how the SAME album is viewed from my 5G (w/video) iPod (terrible, but still not as terrible as what follows) 4. Super terrible album art (this was the heinous image I saw when I viewed ablum art from my new iPhone 3Gs) Image
  7. WilliamG, I'll go out there in just a bit and give a comparison shot or two - will post up in a little while (good suggestion)
  8. As a follow up, I went out and connected my new iPhone 3Gs to the AVIC just to see if perhaps my earlier iPhone and current iPod (5G w/video) models may have been ones that had the pixelated art, and this one would be better. . . OMG! If it's possible, they look EVEN WORSE!! Unbelieveable! Which really cracks me up, because that can only mean that the "bad album art" I have been seeing for the past year from my other units are actually the "good" art that others are saying they see! Wow! Needless to say, the AVIC in no way, shape or form displays the iPod/iPhone album art anywhere
  9. Funny thing is, even when I view album art using the Remote app on my iPhone while scrolling through - they look sharper than they do on the AVIC. It definitely seems like a way that the AVIC is processing/reading those art files, but there is NO way they look anywhere near as good as they should Heck, I even have a screen saver on my Mac that randomly shows all the album art work in my iTunes, and I can switch the settign to adjust how big they show ups (i.e., 4 on the screen, 10, 18, etc.) and when I have them really big (probably 5" x 5") they are crystal clear - and they look bad on th
  10. I'm of the opinion that the people that say their album art ISN'T pixelated are folks that don't have as sharp an eye as those that DO think it's pixelated. I have seen too many folks that have the same make/model iPod or iPhone as I do that say their art is sharp. I completely disagree. I have album art both from the iTunes store, off the internet at a very high resolution - no difference. The images ARE indeed nice on the Mac and DO look like poo on the AVIC - a bummer for sure, but not a deal breaker. I don't think I've ever seen anyone post up any high quality images of what their
  11. Firstly, to dianebrat - I guess I should have mentioned it, but yes, it did work properly with my older model iPhone 3G, just not with my new 3Gs. Next, I have gotten it to work by removing all the "&" from my contact listings. I thought I had them I my contact list with the older iPhone, but could not say for sure. Regradless, taking those out allowed me to call by name using the VR. I even tried to say the names in the proper order (example" call John Smith work) and it recognized the name even though it read back "calling Smith John work". Pretty nice. As a fan of these units, I
  12. Hey there all, I have been a fan of this unit since I installed mine about a year ago. When I purchased my iPhone 3G, the contacts transferred over just fine, and I was able to dial via the VR system just fine. This past week, I purchased a new 3Gs, and have tried to do the same thing. Unfortunately, the AVIC unit seems to have lost the ability to recognize my contacts. I works just fine when I reuest music on the iPod or switiching inputs, etc. - but trying to dial by contact name (example: "Call Doe John work" results in some thing like "Calling 853000, please hang up to cancel" I'm
  13. Kind of along the lines of what S4 says here - it depends on what you purchased the unit for. Again, like S4, my main needs were voice control for the iPod and Bluetooth connectivity for my phone. Both work nearly flawlessly. The fact that it also has Nav, HD radio, XM radio, DVD player, etc. is all a bonus to me. As a former Rav4 owner, you are going to be far more disapointed with the engine in that vehicle than ANY headunit you could purchase! Hope you don't plan on passing many people up! One of the most underpowered vehicles ever produced. Cheers, Kev
  14. If you look at the start of the 2008 version of this same thread, I believe that vandal provided instructions there - at least that is what I remember. Cheers, Kev
  15. I must give him this. . . that has to qualify as the "biggest tool" first post - EVER! LOL!
  16. kevin1488, I made this one for a fellow poster here, and hope he doesn't mind if I share. It's a particular year and color he was after, but I could certainly change it to fit your parameters for sure. Cheers, Kev
  17. A quick tip to prs0303 and Hierog: In the future, before spending hundreds of dollars on a new headunit for your automobile, do some research. Do it for any major purchase in life for that matter. I could understand if the unit didn't do something it specifically said that it would - in that case, I would be completely in your corner, and urge you to return it to wherever you made your purchase and get a refund. But when Pioneers puts on their website all the pertinent information that one should need to find out anything about this unit (i.e., operating manuals, installation instructi
  18. Now THAT is just F'n hilarious! Thanks for the smile! Cheers, Kev
  19. Perhaps because the people that like their unit. . . already own one!
  20. To eloborate on skicrave's answer to some degree: Your USB icon will become active if you connect either an iPod to it or a USB thumbdrive with music on it. Also, the SD icon will become active if you put in a SD card loaded with music or video. Neither the HD radio icon nor the XM/Sirius icons will be available to you unless you purchased the additional tuner modules and have them properly connected and active (i.e., satellite radio needs additional monthly charges to work correctly, that is, sign up for service) The HD radio one will work as soon as the proper module is installed
  21. You need to buy either the XM tuner module or the SIRIUS tuner module to then connect to your F90. Two things: 1.) You simply needed to look through your Installation instructions that come with the F90 to have figured that out, and. . . 2.) You might want to read the thread in the XM topic about XM.Sirius going bankrupt and how seriously you want to pursue still installing it. Reading is fun!
  22. I hadn't really given this much thought till now, but since I have an older "larger" PS2, not the newer "slim" design I wanted to ask just in case: All the power adapters I see for sale say they are only for the "slim" design PS2 - are they any that folks out there know of that will power up an older PS2 through the cigaretter lighter? I am going to be taking the kids on a trip down to FL this spring, and having the option to have them playing games through the F90 is intriguing. Cheers, Kev
  23. Agree whole-heardely - glad you are pleased with the unit! I think if more folks REALY researched this (and any other unit they were interested in) to see if it has what they REALLY want, then they would be a lot less haters out there. The MOST important feature that this unit had was voice command for my iPod - that was truly the ONE thing it had to do well. From everything I saw, it did do that (with an occasional bobble here and there for sure) But to be able to just push ONE button and have access to ALL my thousands of songs, albums, playlists, etc. made it successfule right there
  24. Well, I updated my iPhone to the 2.2.1 software, and it recognizes exactly the same as before it. Might be your Pioneer unit itself? Also, even though you'd probably lose some settings, you might want to reset your iPhone and see if that cures it? I know I've heard folks suggest a simple fix like that on the Apple support sites before. Cheers, Kev
  25. I can confirm (for the F90 at least) that with the VERY latest firmware on the Pioneer headunit, and the VERY latest software on the 3G iPhone, that it DOES indeed pair up perfectly via Bluetooth. I hope you get your issue settled! Cheers, Kev
