Good to hear! Now we just wait for the USA site to get the update as well as the iPhone app to appear. So what are they charging for the 'extra' services? -Keith

I'm pretty sure the head units require a firmware update for it to work. The app being visible in the google play store is a mistake. it's not supposed to be out yet. But it is supposed to be out very very soon.
  3. I have a similar issue on my 8100, sometimes when I start my car the unit's buttons light up but the screen doesn't light up nor does the iPhone plugged start charging from the HU. If I turn the car off and then back on, there is about a minute delay but then the unit will turn on and boot up. After that booting up is pretty quick until the issue surfaced again and repeats exactly the same.

Bill, Hopefully we'll see it soon
  6. You'll need to provide some specific details about what's happening before anyone can tell you how to fix it. What exactly is the problem you're having? Any error messages? We need some specifics, -Keith

Yeah... I'm not, it sounds like they're getting really close but considering they don't have any control over the vendor creating the app... I'm sure they don't want to announce another date that could possibly slip by. I just hope what we get is worth the wait and not crapware.
  8. JC, You have the same problem? Starting in acc more then starting the engine is a consistent workaround for you?

I agree what they said isn't earth shattering or new... but where there has been absolutely no communication, and now I get a phone call from management, I'd like to believe something is going to happen soon. My prediction is that we'll hear something in a few weeks and we'll have AvicSync by the end of the year... for real this time.. Can I be wrong? Absolutely! I'm just sharing what happened, nothing more, nothing less. -Keith
  10. While I spoke to management at Pioneer about AvicSync today, I took the opportunity to ask about the issue I'm having where the 8100 will sometimes hang on boot up with buttons lit, then hang with no buttons lit if you restart the car, then boot up after a 10 second delay on the third attempt. I know I've read this is happening to others. If this is happening to you... PLEASE call Pioneer at (800) 421-1404 and open a case with them. They are not aware of this being a known issue and the only way it will get addressed is if enough people call to complain about it. I'd love to get an id
  11. A few weeks back I sent a scathing email to Pioneer in Japan to the investor relations / media contacts about AvicSync and the lack of information about what's going on. I received a call from management and was provided with some information. I asked if I could share it, they emailed me the exact verbiage they're permitted to share: "Thank you for your inquiry regarding AVIC-SYNC.. We are now in the final stages of completing modifications for the last remaining technical issues. We will be making an announcement about the scheduled start date of the service soon. We appreciate your c
  12. Usually I would agree with you, but not in this particular case. I agree a cradle could cause connection issues.. But my problem isn't a connection issue, it's a software issue. The way the Lightning connector and CarPlay work, either the handshake is there and CarPlay is enabled, or it isn't there and CarPlay is disabled. By its design it can't be enabled if there was a slight connection issue. (If there was a connection issue is see CarPlay disable or alternate between disabling and re-enabling which isn't the case) I'm pretty sure the HU either needs a firmware update, or iOS does.
  13. The cradle IS a lightning cable, it just snaps the Apple lightning cable in the cradle and uses it. There's no issues with the connection. If there was, CarPlay wouldn't even start.
  14. I have the exact opposite experience. IOS9 is way worse. Most of the time when I try to play a song or podcast the now playing screen is blank just showing a play button. This happens with iOS8 as well, but in 8 I could take the phone out of the cradle, start the song or podcast, and then put it back in the cradle and it would play through CarPlay. That workaround doesn't work with 9, in fact most of the time I can't even get audio out of the phone directly either. Spotify is just as bad. Oddly enough iHeartRadio does work.

  16. Impedance mismatch, the mic you're using wasn't designed to work with the input level required by the Pioneer unit. Contact pioneer for a replacement or the point of purchase.
  17. I've had that happen, when I do I just force close all apps, hard reboot the phone and plug it back in. (Hold power and home buttons down until the phone reboots, do not slide to power off)
  18. Exactly... I said they technically could, not that they would.
  19. I noticed something weird this morning on my unit, I'm used to having three memory banks to store favorites when listening to Sirius XM. SXM1,2,3. This morning I noticed a fourth called "featured" with presets I can't change. What are those? Can Sirius actually set their own presets at will?
  20. In theory they could probably come out with a USB wifi adapter or officially support an existing one and support them with a firmware update but I doubt they would since it's just an excuse to sell yet another new model before they even finished delivering on the promises of the existing ones.
  21. I've had problems where if I turned the car on but didn't listen to xm at first, then turned it on lets say 30 min later, I'd have pad data but no audio. The only way to temporarily fix it was turn the car off and on. The permanent fix was to exchange the SXV300.
  22. I have every alert enabled and only get alerts for going over the speed limit. Not a single alert for anything else.. For what it's worth I'm on Long Island
  23. Has anyone actually observed these alerts working anywhere in the USA? The data wasn't included in the maps for my 8000 or 8100 NEX, and they aren't listed as being included in the maps available on NaviExtras, and I don't see any reference of them being tied to AvicSync.. so just where do they exist? -Keith
  24. Thanks, yeah I took the gamble knowing they weren't authorized since I got burned with the warranty on my Z150.. so when I bought this one I purchased a squaretrade 3yr warranty... not realizing that the unit was shipped without a serial number.. Now to see if I can purchase a new warranty for this unit.. they sent me a purchase notification as if this was a new purchase but didn't include a price on the invoice..
