  1. " . . * Input media number is already in use. * (Error Code: 10) . . . This is the message if you use previously used media code and another (in my case the second one) device number. I do have two units and i have purchased two updates separately (Pioneer and Crutchfield). After reading your question, I just tried to see what is going to happen . .
  2. Hi cranbers, How did you get activation password for your v3 update Just explain procedure and password length . . if you do not mind. I am struggling to get what I have paid for (site down for days) . . Looks that you have been a lucky one. Sincerely, Bob
  3. Redundancy . . . .system with "lowest criticality" .? For what . . . password generator and very small database . . a piece of cake . . You can put it even on a single floppy and if it is necessary, upload to PUSA guys if they do not have it or they have been on the vacation. Again do not blame Japan . . they have been dealing with earthquakes successfully for years . . show me their site which is down right now . . comeoooon please PUSA technicians a....s failed to be there during the weekend . . now they are struggling . . . somebody should be fired for it!
  4. PUSA means Pioneer USA and we are dealing with PUSA guys. Again DO NOT BLAME natural disaster (unfortunate and sad event) for such bad business practice. The activation generator and anything else is ALWAYS backed up on some sort of media and NOT at only one place. PUSA was closed this weekend and nobody was willing to move back in the office . . I have called PUSA and they said that " ...they are closed (even tech dpt) during the weekend . . . server is down . . it is what it is . . please wait until server is up . ." SO WHAT ELSE TO SAY . . this is actually some sort o
  5. " .......10:30AM - Still down, and the correct phone # is 1-800-Pioneer, I just called and guess what, their system is down as well..... " _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Their system was down on Friday at least! They are doing NOW something that they are supposed to do THREE DAYS AGO! So, do not blame earthquake in Japan . . it was ONLY extremely bad business practice ..
  6. Input device number is not correct. (Error Code: 1) Is it possible that they do not have THE RIGHT database - the manufacturer gave them the wrong data base with the hardware IDs ( device numbers or whatever) ???? If that is the case (I hope not) they should have a totally different approach to the maps activation . . . and we will spend another week or more waiting for the damn fix of this craziness. Actually, I do not lake speculations, BUT when something goes wrong for so long, speculations are unavoidable . . bad for Pioneer. Such behavior shown by Pioneer is simply NOT ACCEP
  7. Hi Rob, You are right. It was Firefox . . . with IE no problem at all . .Glad I was wrong with Pioneer USA. . Thanks! Bob
  8. If you go here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... CNSD-100FM and push the button BUY IT NOW yo will get an error: ???.msg.error.invalidsession??? .... * ???.msg.error.login??? Strange. . . . . At least they blocked new buyers . . or this USA server is also disabled ???
  9. They DO HAVE back-ups . . worldwide servers . . USA site . . . Earthquake IS NOT the problem . .
  10. add me to the list toooo !!!!!!!!!

  12. Ha . . ha . . . Another joke from the customer service (not just Pioneer's) It is very sad that these people who are doing "technical support" to the small computer (AVIC), are talking such "smart" statements . . . and . . . no . . no more comments . . !
  13. Mine was purchased with old firmware than upgraded to 2.0 by myself. It was working fine for about six months.
  14. How to re-flash update from SD if unit goes blank after 10-15 seconds . . Also, how to reach test mode CE screen when unit stops (10-15 seconds) before you reach the end of "loading" (in test mode) . . It was a few days that I got this problem after the regular oil change - sounds crazy, but these guys did something wrong with the battery power in order to "reset" oil change warning . . . There will be no problem at all if I can get Windows CE screen before unit goes blank , , , I do have backup files, software update 2 and test mode files . . . . Any ideas?
  15. It would be nice if Pioneer AVIC could allow us to make a choice - use your existing cell phone voice recognition capability or using their Parrot software to make a phone calls. I do have another car with a "regular" Pioneer BT head unit which uses my Motorola phone voice recognition calls - this BT capable car stereo does not "download" your phone book or contacts, it is just making connection between your phone and head unit. . . . May be one day somebody will make this hack. . .
  16. Remember, you should REPLACE your AVIC IGO DEM file with with your higher resolution IGO 8 DEM file - do not forget to change the name of the new file to " NorthAmerica_low.dem ". BTW, I am talking about USA maps . . . . In addition, I have removed some Canadian files in order to have enough room for the new one . . BobD
  17. Here are some suggestions for Motorola GSM, GPRS (not CDMA) phones: 1. Go to this URL and read about Sound Gain Table File: http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/Gain_Table_File 2. Download P2KTools (do some google to find it) 3. Read instructions from the above URL (howard forums) and change bluetooth device microphone and speaker gains using P2KTools (to your cell phone your AVIC is the bluetooth device) I have been able to improve my Avic BT700 microphone gain as well as bluettoth speaker gain. DO NOT CHANGE your phone mic gain or phone speaker gain - could be eas
  18. GUGA, You are right. Icon looks better when dissolves into black background. As per "brightening" of the icon I do not like to "bright" entire icon - black will become gray and it will be shown as a rectangular button . . Any way, I will make some changes if I get some time to play more with my AVIC GUI. Thanks again for making AVIC better! BobD
  19. Hi, Here is my contribution to the collection of the navigation icons . . . Thanks GUGA for "refreshing" the image.res file ! BobD
  20. Thanks again Boris. There is the fix for the landscape problem. Actualy, the DEM file which I have in my IGO 8 (for PDA) did work in my Pioneer unit. I have replaced the original DEM file from Pioneer with that one from IGO 8. It works perfect - all landscapes, mountains etc. are now nicely painted and visible. Pretty much realistic 3D scenery of the landscape. Even more, the horizon line that I see trough my windshield has the same shape that I have now at the screen of my F700BT unit. Best regards, BobD
  21. Hi Boris and thanks for the proposed values. I was playing this weekend with a different values for zoom and tilt. It works perfect. Now, I am able to get much better angles in 3D map. Unfortunately, looks that Pioneer's version of IGO does not "understand" DEM files which is essential for getting elevation data. Without elevation data "dayheightcolormap.bmp" simply does not "paint" the map. I was driving with my PDA Igo8 GPS which clearly painted landscape shapes and colors. The same terrain shown on Pioneer F700BT was totally flat . . . It looks that Pioneer has intentionally disa
  22. I live in Illinois which is basically flat, but with Xerces color schemes if I zoom out far enough (much further than on your screenshot) I do get 3D terrain view. I'll compare to what I can get if running on my phone and see if it looks better there. Also, the default DEM file isn't terribly detailed, so I would not expect every local hill to show up... Boris, Just to let you know that the screenshot shows the maximum zoom-out (not just far enough) that I have been able to do. Is there any "ini" file which defines maximum zoom-out or how far the details could be shown. The real distan
  23. You're welcome. $skin$ is a pointer to whatever the currently active skin is. In our case it always is ui_pioneer. Hi Boris. Thanks a lot again for your help. Here is the problem: despite that the file "dayheightcolormap.bmp" exists in "Ui_pioneer" folder, I cannot get the 3 dimensional look of the terrain. I have zoomed my 3D map all a way to the end, and I have got the map picture which is jagged at the last top quarter of the screen (please see the attached picture). Looks that the part of the map picture which is approximately positioned at the same place where is supposed to be "b
  24. Thanks Boris. Another small question . . I was looking at color.ini file and found this: heightcolormap="$skin$/common/dayheightcolormap.bmp The "skin" folder (subfolder) is something that i could not find anywhere under IGO folder. The dayheightcolormap.bmp exists actually in ui_pioner/common folder . . I would greatly appreciate your opinion. Thanks, Bob
